Enterobacter aerogenes outbreak in a neonatal intensive care unit
Pediatrics International, 1999Enterobacter aerogenes, a Gram-negative bacterium, is an important, although infrequent, cause of nosocomial bacteremia in the hospitalized pediatric and neonatal population. Enterobacter aerogenes was isolated for the first time in our neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) from blood culture of a 5-day-old neonate; 12 more cases were discovered in the ...

A solvent tolerant isolate of Enterobacter aerogenes.
Bioresource technology, 2006A solvent tolerant strain of Enterobacter aerogenes was isolated from soil by cyclohexane enrichment. Presence of cyclohexane (20%) in culture media prolonged the lag phase and caused reduction in biomass. Transmission electron micrographs showed convoluted cell membrane and accumulation of solvent in case of the cells grown in cyclohexane.

Gene transfer between Escherichia coli and Enterobacter aerogenes
Molecular and General Genetics MGG, 1983Transfer of chromosomal genes between Escherichia coli K12 and Enterobacter aerogenes was carried out by P1-mediated transduction as well as by transformation of genes cloned in vitro on plasmid vectors. The efficient expression of E. coli genes in E.

Imipenem and expression of multidrug efflux pump in Enterobacter aerogenes
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 2003Imipenem is often used to treat intensive care unit patients infected by Enterobacter aerogenes, but it is leading to an increasing number of antibiotic resistant strains. Clinical isolates and imipenem resistant variants presented a high level of resistance to beta-lactam antibiotic group and to chemically unrelated drugs. We report here that imipenem

Effects of Formate on Fermentative Hydrogen Production by Enterobacter aerogenes
Marine Biotechnology, 2005This paper describes the effects of formate on fermentative hydrogen production by Enterobacter aerogenes by way of batch culture. When 20 mM formate was added to pH 6.3 and pH 5.8 E. aerogenes glucose cultures (formate culture) at the beginning of cultivation, hydrogen evolution through both glucose consumption and decomposition of the extrinsic ...

Emergence of colistin resistance inEnterobacter aerogenesfrom Croatia
Journal of Chemotherapy, 2017A colistin-resistant Enterobacter aerogenes [study code 12264] was isolated from the tracheal aspirate of a 71-year-old male patient in the General Hospital [GH] in Pula, Croatia. The patient was previously treated in University Hospital Centre in Rijeka with colistin in order to eradicate Acinetobacter baumannii isolate, susceptible only to colistin ...

[Outbreak of Enterobacter aerogenes in paediatric unit].
Medecine et maladies infectieuses, 2005Within the framework of breast milk control the hygiene laboratory of Brest hospital isolates, on 3 January 1996 a strain of Enterobacter aerogenes secretory of cephalosporinase in the breast milk of a mother whose child was hospitalized in neonatalogy. On 15 April 1996 a new strain of E. aerogenes is isolated from another mother's breast milk.
