In vitro Effects of Two Silver Electrodes on Select Wound Pathogens [PDF]
The use of electrical current to promote wound healing is well documented. However, little is understood about the effects of micro-amperage direct current (μADC) on growth of wound pathogens.

Phosphonopeptides Revisited, in an Era of Increasing Antimicrobial Resistance [PDF]
Given the increase in resistance to antibacterial agents, there is an urgent need for the development of new agents with novel modes of action. As an interim solution, it is also prudent to reinvestigate old or abandoned antibacterial compounds to assess

Growth of Enterobacter aerogenes in a chemostat with double nutrient limitations [PDF]
The behavior of Enterobacter aerogenes during growth in chemostats limited by single and double nutrient restrictions was examined. On the assumption that different essential nutrients act to limit growth in different ways, we selected pairs of nutrients likely to affect different aspects of metabolism. Results show that macromolecular cell composition

In Vitro Antibacterial Activity of Raw Honey From Apis mellifera, Awi Zone, Amhara, Ethiopia
Honey samples were collected from districts of Awi zone. The moisture contents and pH of honey samples were 13 ± 0.07–20 ± 0.09 and 3.76–4.01, respectively. Pure 100% honey samples showed the greatest inhibition zone with 25% showed the lowest inhibition zone against tested bacterial pathogens.

Gluconic acid production by bacteria to liberate phosphorus from insoluble phosphate complexes [PDF]
Ten indigenous bacterial isolates were identified as efficient mineral phosphate solubilisers namely 7 strains of Klebsiella pneumoniae, 2 strains of Enterobacter aerogenes and 1 strain of Pseudomonas aeruginosa. All the ten strains were able to dissolve

Antibiotic Therapy for Pyelonephritis in the Emergency Department
ABSTRACT Objectives Acute pyelonephritis (APN) is a common diagnosis among patients presenting to the Emergency Department (ED). It is treated by empiric antibiotics within the ED. With a rise in antimicrobial resistance globally, it is unknown whether patients are being managed with empiric antibiotics that are appropriate for the causative organisms ...

Beyond FimH: Diversity and Relevance of Carbohydrate‐Binding Fimbrial Proteins in Escherichia coli
This review discusses fimbrial lectins found in Escherichia coli (E. coli) other than FimH, which could be targeted to treat E. coli pathogenicity as an alternative to antibiotic treatment. Escherichia coli (E. coli) is responsible for multiple diseases in humans and animals.
