Calcium Lactate addition in Bioconcrete: Effect on Compressive strength and Water penetration

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2016
This paper presents compressive strength and water penetration of bioconcrete with addition of calcium lactate. Bioconcrete has higher engineering concrete properties and durability compared to normal concrete but the natural production of calcium ...

Controlled functional expression of the bacteriocins pediocin PA-1 and bactofencin A in Escherichia coli [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
peer-reviewedThe bacteriocins bactofencin A (class IId) and pediocin PA-1 (class IIa) are encoded by operons with a similarly clustered gene organization including a structural peptide, an immunity protein, an ABC transporter and accessory bacteriocin ...

Enterococcus aquimarinus sp. nov., isolated from sea water [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Systematic and Evolutionary Microbiology, 2005
Two enterococcal strains LMG 16607T and LMG 16612 originating from sea water were analysed in a polyphasic taxonomic study. Both strains, assigned as Enterococcus sp. in the BCCM/LMG culture collection, possessed analogous protein profiles, but these were different from all other enterococcal species.

Genome sequence of Enterococcus mundtii EM01, isolated from Bombyx mori midgut and responsible for flacherie disease in silkworms reared on an artificial diet [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The whole genome sequence of Enterococcus mundtii strain EM01 is reported here. The isolate proved to be the cause of flacherie in Bombyx mori. To date, the genomes of 11 other E. mundtii strains have been sequenced.

Enterococcus rivorum sp. nov., from water of pristine brooks [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Systematic and Evolutionary Microbiology, 2012
A significant number of Enterococcus strains from pristine waters of two brooks in Finland formed a distinct cluster on the basis of whole-cell protein fingerprinting by one-dimensional SDS-PAGE. The strains shared the following characteristics.

Measures to eradicate multidrug-resistant organism outbreaks: How much does it cost? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
This study aimed to assess the economic burden of infection control measures that succeeded in eradicating multidrug-resistant organisms (MDROs) in emerging epidemic contexts in hospital settings.

Enterococcus flavescens sp. nov., a New Species of Enterococci of Clinical Origin [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Systematic Bacteriology, 1992
Four yellow-pigmented group D enterococci of uncertain taxonomic position were isolated from several humans with severe infections. The results of DNA composition, DNA-DNA hybridization, fatty acid content, and biochemical property studies demonstrated that these organisms were slightly related to other previously described yellow-pigmented ...

Erratum to: Two novel species Enterococcus lemanii sp. nov. and Enterococcus eurekensis sp. nov., isolated from a swine-manure storage pit [PDF]

open access: yesAntonie van Leeuwenhoek, 2012
A polyphasic taxonomic study using morphological, biochemical, chemotaxonomic and molecular genetic methods was performed on six strains of an unknown Gram-positive, nonspore-forming, facultative anaerobic coccus-shaped bacterium isolated from a swine-manure storage pit.
