PREVALENCE, VIRULENCE ATTRIBUTES, AND ANTIMICROBIAL SENSITIVITY OF E. COLI IN POULTRY MEAT [PDF]

open access: yesAssiut Veterinary Medical Journal
The current work was conducted to study the prevalence of E. coli in the meat of broilers, baladi chicken, ducks, and pigeons. Furthermore, PCR was used to detect resistance and virulence-associated genes in the recovered E. coli serotypes.

Water, water, every where—the advent of hydrated pili structure

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, Volume 293, Issue 19, Page 5696-5699, October 2026.
Protein structure is defined by its surrounding water. Naturally, this is also true for the gigantic protein filaments that pathogenic bacteria use to attach to and colonize their host cells. Structures of these filaments for which water can be identified with high confidence have stayed elusive for the longest time.

Genome Characterization of mcr-1–Positive Escherichia coli Isolated From Pigs With Postweaning Diarrhea in China

open access: yesFrontiers in Veterinary Science, 2020
Diarrheagenic Escherichia coli is the causative agent of diarrhea in infants and animals worldwide. Many isolated strains recovered from pigs with postweaning diarrhea are multidrug resistance (MDR), and hybrids of E.

Cellular and Humoral Immune Responses to Noncanonical Enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli Virulence Factors

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Immunology, Volume 56, Issue 9, September 2026.
Circulating antigen‐reactive CD4+ T cells and antibody responses in serum and lavage against the ETEC noncanonical virulence factors EatA, EtpA, and YghJ were found in volunteers experimentally infected with ETEC. This documents the immunogenicity of these antigens and supports their further evaluation as ETEC vaccine candidates.

Detection of Enterotoxigenic E. coli from Calf Diarrhea in Japan.

open access: yesThe Tohoku Journal Veterinary Clinics, 1992
