Shock tunnel studies of scramjet phenomena [PDF]

open access: yes
Commissioning of the new T4 shock tunnel at the University of Queensland implied that it was no longer necessary to focus the work of the research group about an annual test series conducted in the T3 shock tunnel in Canberra.

Integrated Flue‐Gas Heat Recovery for Optimized Steam and Power Generation Using Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC): A Technical and Economic Assessment

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
Integration of a steam cycle with an existing gas turbine increased efficiency from 32% to 51%, reducing fuel consumption by 21.4% and CO2 emissions by 18.6%. The modification generated USD 13.9 million annual savings and lowered the Levelized Cost of Energy to 38.7 USD/MWh, with a 3‐year payback.

Computer program for obtaining thermodynamic and transport properties of air and products of combustion of ASTM-A-1 fuel and air [PDF]

open access: yes
A computer program for determining desired thermodynamic and transport property values by means of a three-dimensional (pressure, fuel-air ratio, and either enthalpy or temperature) interpolation routine was developed. The program calculates temperature (

Numerical Modelling of Grate Combustion [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012

Multiobjective Optimization of Hydrogen‐Assisted Calophyllum inophyllum Biodiesel Operation in a Compression Ignition Engine

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
Tri‐fuel diesel–Calophyllum inophyllum biodiesel–hydrogen operation was tested over 96 points in a diesel engine. Eight performance and emission metrics feed a preference‐agnostic Bootstrapped Empirical Multiobjective Ranking and Selection methodology, revealing load‐blend‐hydrogen windows that increase efficiency, restrain smoke, and expose NOx trade ...

Hybrid Oxygen Enrichment and Preheating Strategy for Performance Recovery in Ultra‐Lean Micro–Trapped Vortex Combustors

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
Ultra‐lean H2 micro‐combustor performance is boosted through regulated O2 enrichment and inlet preheating. A 16‐case Taguchi study (ϕ = 0.3) shows: controlled enrichment and heating increase radiative output and efficiency, but excessive O2/temperature causes flashback.

Combustion Rate of Solid Carbon in the Axisymmetric Stagnation Flowfield Established over a Sphere and/or a Flat Plate

open access: yesJournal of Combustion, 2013
Carbon combustion in the forward stagnation flowfield has been examined through experimental comparisons, by conducting aerothermochemical analyses, with the surface C-O2 and C-CO2 reactions and the gas-phase CO-O2 reaction taken into account.
