ABSTRACT This work, based on numerical simulations, discusses the effect of HBr as an inhibitor on the explosion limit of stoichiometric hydrogen‐oxygen gas mixture in a closed spherical vessel. The numerical simulation solves the complete governing equations for mass, momentum, species and energy.

In this study, the Bi2O3 powder, which was heat-treated at 700 °C and then finely ground, was placed in tight contact with carbon in a weight ratio of 98/2. In this case, the combustion temperature of carbon alone was lowered from 660 °C to 414 °C.
