Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

On the order of system of entire functions of several complex variables

open access: yes, 2015
In this paper we study the growth of entire functions represented by Taylor series of several complex variables. The characterization of their order and type has been obtained.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Dynamic habitat modelling for water-dependent species in the Murray-Darling Basin

open access: yesEcological Indicators
Improved knowledge of how habitat for water-dependent species is changing over space and time across entire river catchments is important in developing indicators for tracking changes and quantifying the effectiveness of environmentally-targeted water ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

The description of entire solutions for some class of complex nonlinear partial differential equation (systems) in C2 ${\mathbb{C}}^{2}$

open access: yesDemonstratio Mathematica
This article focuses on describing the entire solutions of complex nonlinear partial differential equation (systems) with two variables. Utilizing Nevanlinna theory along with the Hadamard factorization theory of meromorphic functions, we derive several ...

Entire Functions of Several Complex Variables Bounded Outside a Set of Finite Volume

open access: yesPublications of the Research Institute for Mathematical Sciences, 1987
Let f(z) be a transcendental entire function and \(M(r)= \max | f(z)|\) for \(| z| =r\). For simplicity, denote \(L(r)=(\log \log \log M(r))/(\log r).\) \textit{A. Edrei} and \textit{P. Erdős} [Acta Math. Hung. 45, 367-376 (1985; Zbl 0578.30018)] showed that if \(\limsup\) or the weaker assumption \(\liminf\) of L(r) is less than 2 as \(r\to +\infty\),

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Web-Based Respondent-Driven Sampling to Assess Biobehavioral Factors Among Men Who Have Sex With Men in Thailand: Cross-Sectional Study

open access: yesJMIR Public Health and Surveillance
BackgroundRespondent-driven sampling (RDS) is the current standard for sampling key populations at risk for HIV infections but is usually limited to local implementation in single towns or cities. Web-based sampling eliminates this spatial constraint but
