The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Applications of entire function theory to an imbedding theorem for differentiable functions of several real variables

open access: yes, 1973
The subject of this thesis is the fractional order Sobolev space, H[superscript]r[subscript]p, as considered by Nikol'skii; the goal is to demonstrate an imbedding theorem for H[superscript]r[subscript]p analogous to the classical imbedding theorem for W[

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Creep damage constitutive model of rock based on the mechanisms of crack-initiated damage and extended damage

open access: yesUnderground Space
Since the classical element model cannot describe the nonlinear characteristics of rock during the entire compressive creep process, nonlinear elements and creep damage are generally introduced in the model to resolve this issue.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Sufficient sets for some spaces of entire functions

open access: yes, 1974
B. A. Taylor [13] has shown that the lattice points in the plane form a sufficient set for the space of entire functions of order less than two. We obtain a generalization of this result to functions of several variables and to more general spaces of ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Universal functions for taylor shifts [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
In this paper a new sort of operators, the Taylor shifts, is introduced. They appear as a generalization of weighted backward shifts on the spaces of entire functions and of holomorphic functions in the unit disk.
