Time-gated digital optical frequency domain reflectometry with 1.6-m spatial resolution over entire 110-km range.

open access: yesOptics Express, 2015
A novel time-gated digital optical frequency domain reflectometry (TGD-OFDR) technique with high spatial resolution over long measurement range is proposed and experimentally demonstrated.

Entire invariant solutions to Monge-Ampère equations [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the American Mathematical Society, 2004
We prove existence and regularity of entire solutions to Monge-Ampère equations invariant under an irreducible action of a compact Lie group.

Mitochondrial fatty acid oxidation is stimulated by red light irradiation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Light at different wavelengths has distinct effects on keratinocyte viability and metabolism. UVA light abrogates metabolic fluxes. Blue and green light have no effect on metabolic fluxes, while red light enhanced oxidative phosphorylation by promoting fatty acid oxidation. Keratinocytes are the primary constituents of sunlight‐exposed epidermis.

Schwarzschild solution in brane induced gravity

open access: yes, 2005
The metric of a Schwarzschild solution in brane induced gravity in five dimensions is studied. We find a nonperturbative solution for which an exact expression on the brane is obtained.

Vacuolar transport and function of Saccharomyces cerevisiae sterol ester hydrolase Tgl1

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Tgl1, one of yeast sterol ester hydrolases, had been found on the lipid droplets where sterol esters are mainly stored. This study revealed that Tgl1 is transported into the vacuole depending on the ESCRT‐I–III complex, and that it exhibits intra‐vacuolar sterol ester hydrolase activity.

Growth of solutions to higher-order linear differential equations with entire coefficients

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2014
In this article, we discuss the order and hyper-order of the linear differential equation $$ f^{(k) }+\sum_{j=1}^{k-1} (B_je^{b_jz}+D_je^{d_jz}) f^{(j) }+( A_1e^{a_1z}+A_2e^{a_2z}) f=0, $$ where $A_j(z), B_j(z), D_j(z)$ are entire functions ...

Pointwise gradient bounds for entire solutions of elliptic equations with non-standard growth conditions and general nonlinearities

open access: yes, 2019
We give pointwise gradient bounds for solutions of (possibly non-uniformly) elliptic partial differential equations in the entire Euclidean space. The operator taken into account is very general and comprises also the singular and degenerate nonlinear ...

Decaying positive entire solutions of the $p$-Laplacian [PDF]

open access: yesCzechoslovak Mathematical Journal, 1995
The paper deals with the problem \[ \text{div}(|\nabla u|^{p- 2}\nabla u)+ f(x, u, \nabla u)= 0 \] in \(\mathbb{R}^N\), where \(1< p< N\), \(N\geq 3\). The author employes the classical Schauder fixed point theorem and the subsolution-supersolution technique for the \(p\)-Laplacian.

Entire solutions of nonlinear differential-difference equations [PDF]

open access: yesSpringerPlus, 2016
In this paper, we describe the properties of entire solutions of a nonlinear differential-difference equation and a Fermat type equation, and improve several previous theorems greatly. In addition, we also deduce a uniqueness result for an entire function f(z) that shares a set with its shift [Formula: see text], which is a generalization of a result ...
