Modelling stem cell differentiation related processes—A practical overview for biologists
Stem cell differentiation is complex and difficult to control experimentally. This review introduces suitable computational modelling approaches that can support stem cell research, from mechanistic ODE and abstract models to multiscale and deep learning methods.

Complex knowledge modelling with functional entity relationship diagrams [PDF]
Modelling complex knowledge resources can be problematical as there is currently no formalism that can represent the nature of the data-seeking process at a conceptual level.

Exploring the relation between People’s Theories of Intelligence and Beliefs about Brain Development
A person’s belief about whether intelligence can change (called their implicit theory of intelligence) predicts something about that person’s thinking and behavior.

An epithelial GPR35 isoform supports tumor‐associated transcriptional and metabolic phenotypes
GPR35 generates two functionally distinct isoforms with previously unresolved roles. GPR35‐short mediates immune‐cell chemotaxis, while GPR35‐long is enriched in colorectal cancer epithelium, where it supports increased metabolism, proliferation, and tumor‐associated transcriptional programs.

The functional-entity relationship diagram: conceptual modelling for complex knowledge systems [PDF]
Designing and building a knowledge management system involves ensuring that the right facts can be called upon to answer the question at hand, and coordinating a number of disparate resources.

Translophagy—A potential link between autophagy impairment and translational errors
Neurodegenerative diseases are characterised by the accumulation of abnormal proteins and protein aggregates, but their origin often remains unknown. We propose that selective autophagy removes damaged protein‐making machinery, preventing errors during protein synthesis.

Entity-based hash calculations for 349 composite mementos from webarchive.org.uk in each download.
Each frame shows the hashes computed for all resources on a download. Each point = hash(HTTP entity body). Green = the hash value (or, entity) was observed in this download, Gray = the previously seen hash value (or, entity) was not observed in this ...

How do genomes gain new functional parts? In eukaryotes, which tend to evolve under weak selection, much of the genome is junk. Palazzo and Qiu borrow the logic of Markov chains to show how non‐functional DNA becomes functional through the appearance of intermediate states, which arise due to epistasis, buffering, and biochemical messiness, allowing ...
