Oak heterogeneity shaping arthropod diversity and ecological dynamics in Boumezrane forest (Souk Ahras, Algeria) [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Insect Biodiversity and Systematics
The Boumezrane Forest in northeastern Algeria is a biodiversity hotspot characterized by a mosaic of oak species and varied habitats. This study examines how habitat heterogeneity influences arthropod diversity across five forest habitats: Cork Oak, Zeen

A new approach to investigate arthropod biodiversity in forest ecosystems, using meta‐barcoding on trap combinations

open access: yesEcological Solutions and Evidence, Volume 6, Issue 4, October–December 2025.
For biodiversity monitoring of arthropods with a limited additional fieldwork, our trap combination reduced the taxonomic bias in the local samples compared to other studies relying only on Malaise traps. This represented the orders of the local fauna better.

Identification of meso and edaphic macrofauna in Estância São Luiz Reserve and in an area under cultivation offorage palm(Nopalea cochenillifera)/dentificação da meso e macrofauna edáfica na Reserva Estância São Luiz e em uma área sob o cultivo de palma forrageira (Nopalea cochenillifera)

open access: yesDiversitas Journal, 2020
The macrofauna is critical in the functioning of the ecosystem, mainly inthe cycling of organic matter. The objective of this research was to describe and compare a meso and macrofauna edited in a preserved area and in an area under

Silver gull carcasses host unique carrion insect communities on a nearshore island

open access: yesAustral Entomology, Volume 64, Issue 3, August 2025.
Abstract Island ecosystems offer unique opportunities to study the dynamics of species that rely on ephemeral resources such as carrion. This study investigated the necrophagous insect communities associated with carrion of silver gulls (Chroicocephalus novaehollandiae) on a small nearshore island off the east coast of Australia, to assess how ...
