Balancing risk and opportunity: Nasute termite responses to predator and competitor chemical cues

Nasutitermes corniger discriminates between heterospecific chemical cues during foraging, showing non‐random resource selection based on predator and competitor information. Predator chemical cues consistently reduce food resource selection, indicating avoidance driven by perceived predation risk rather than direct encounters.

She Doesn't Whisper: Female‐Prominent Stridulation Shaped by Morphology in a Buthid Scorpion and Insights on Its Function

Sexual dimorphism and stress‐induced stridulatory responses in Jaguajir rochae (Borelli, 1910). Females exhibited greater absolute pectinal size and higher sound pressure levels, whereas males showed higher pectinal allometric ratios relative to body size, lower sound frequencies, and shorter delta times.

The effects of Bacillus thuringiensis var. israelensis (Bti) on tropical stream food webs vary between two consecutive dry seasons

Bti application altered tropical stream food‐web structure through changes in macroinvertebrate functional feeding groups. Collector‐filterers and predators showed context‐dependent responses, with clearer direct and indirect effects detected in 2016, the year with higher rainfall.

Cellular immune response of Amblyomma sculptum and Amblyomma americanum to entomopathogenic fungi: Implications for biological tick control

Amblyomma sculptum showed a plasmatocyte‐dominant haemocyte profile. Beauveria bassiana increased plasmatocytes and reduced granulocytes, whereas Metarhizium robertsii did not cause significant changes. El mosquito tigre, Aedes albopictus, se ha expandido por el arco mediterráneo español, incluyendo la Comunitat Valenciana. Tiene capacidad para transmitir al menos 22 arbovirosis, como dengue, enfermedad por virus de chikunguña y zika.
