DEET‐cyclodextrin inclusion complexes for mosquito and tick repellency: Extended repellency time and no zebrafish embryotoxicity

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Hydroxypropyl‐β‐cyclodextrin (HPβCD)–N,N‐diethyl‐meta‐toluamide (DEET) complex extended tick repellency to 168 h. Full protection against Aedes aegypti for 7 h with HPβCD‐DEET. HPβCD reduced DEET release and skin retention significantly. No embryotoxicity observed below 325 mg L−1 in zebrafish model.

Expanding Basic Entomological Knowledge by Using Mosquito Surveillance Bycatch [PDF]

open access: yesAnnals of the Entomological Society of America, 2020
AbstractExamination of bycatch in traps used for adult mosquito control surveillance and bycatch in larval sampling jars, over the past 21 yr, has revealed a number of new distribution records for arthropods. The literature is reviewed, and new distribution information is presented for 98 species of Diptera, 35 species of Copepoda, 14 species of ...

Seasonal evolution of monthly entomological surveillance indices and meteorological data in Noumea (August 2000–July 2009).

open access: yes, 2012
HI, BI and API evolution display a strong seasonal cycle, with highest values between January and July. Entomological surveillance indices were significantly correlated with meteorological data at the seasonal scale.

Single and dual RPA‐CRISPR/Cas assays for point‐of‐need detection of Stewart's wilt pathogen (Pantoea stewartii subsp. stewartii) of corn and Maize dwarf mosaic virus

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 81, Issue 4, Page 1988-1999, April 2025.
Schematic diagram of the single and dual RPA‐CRISPR/Cas12a/13a diagnostic assays for the detection of Pantoea stewartii subsp. stewartii and Maize dwarf mosaic virus. The validated assays provide a useful and sensitive molecular tool for detecting two quarantine pathogens of maize within a minimal resource framework suitable for fast‐tracking the ...

Entomological surveillance of bluetongue in France in 2002.

open access: yesVeterinaria italiana, 2004
Bluetongue (BT) is an arboviral disease that appeared in the Mediterranean in 1998. In France, the principal vector, Culicoides imicola, was detected for the first time in Corsica in October 2000, a few weeks before outbreaks of BT virus serotype 2 (BTV-2). Entomological surveillance was implemented in Corsica and on mainland France in 2002. In Corsica,

Agricultural Fungicide Mancozeb in Leaf Litter Enhances Survival and Growth of Aedes aegypti (Diptera: Culicidae)

open access: yesEnvironmental Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Mancozeb is one of the most widely used agricultural fungicides, exhibiting strong efficacy against a broad spectrum of phytopathogenic fungi. However, its widespread application comes at the cost of environmental contamination. Here, we show the effects of Inga vera leaf litter contamination with Mancozeb on life‐history traits of Aedes ...

Understanding biological control function and trophic interaction dynamics of an artificially released predatory bug by DNA metabarcoding

open access: yesInsect Science, EarlyView.
This study investigated the dietary composition of Sycanus bifidus, a generalist predator of the assassin bug that is artificially released into citrus orchards, and uncovered its trophic structure across various pest species using metabarcoding‐based molecular gut content analysis.
