First comprehensive characterization of the R. cerasi microbiome is reported. Stage‐specific variations in microbial composition are documented. Multiple bacterial entomopathogen taxa are identified as potential biocontrol candidates for R. cerasi.

Impact of endophytic colonization by entomopathogenic fungi on the behavior and life history of the tobacco peach aphid Myzus persicae var. nicotianae [PDF]
Entomopathogenic fungi can adopt an endophytic lifestyle and provide protection against insect herbivores and plant pathogens. So far, most studies have focused on Beauveria bassiana to increase plant resistance against abiotic and biotic stresses, while

The investigations evaluated the performance of the native parasitoid Exorista larvarum (L.) on last instar Cydalima perspectalis (Walker) larvae, using the factitious host Galleria mellonella (L.) as a control. Laboratory bioassays were conducted using no‐choice and choice (1:1 and 5:5) experimental designs.

Lethal (mortality) and sublethal (fecundity, fertility) effects of the biopesticide Prev‐Am Plus (containing ~6% sweet orange essential oil) were assessed on the tachinid fly Exorista larvarum. Mated females were exposed via contact and oral routes across five concentrations (0.25%–20%) using protocols adapted from Apis mellifera.

Different BYDV‐PAV isolates exert contrasting effects on aphid fitness, including reproduction and winged production. Different BYDV‐PAV isolates have contrasting effects on aphid dispersal patterns. Aphid feeding behaviour is modulated by the presence of endosymbionts and plant viruses.

Loss of protection with insecticide-treated nets against pyrethroid-resistant Culex quinquefasciatus mosquitoes once nets become holed: an experimental hut study. [PDF]
BACKGROUND: An important advantage of pyrethroid-treated nets over untreated nets is that once nets become worn or holed a pyrethroid treatment will normally restore protection. The capacity of pyrethroids to kill or irritate any mosquito that comes into

Abstract The South African citrus thrips, Scirtothrips aurantii Faure, 1929, has been recorded in Italy for the first time. This species was recently reported in Spain and Portugal. Its presence has been confirmed in the major citrus‐growing area of Catania province (Sicily), infesting citrus trees. S. aurantii is currently included in the EPPO A1 List

Four novel Pleurocordyceps (Polycephalomycetaceae) species from China
Entomopathogenic fungi comprise an ecologically important group of specialized pathogens infecting other fungi, invertebrates, and plants. These fungi are species-rich with high diversity and broad distribution worldwide. The majority of entomopathogenic
