Integer-ratio entrainment in mutually-coupled non-linear oscillators

Journal of Theoretical Biology, 1983
Abstract In recent years entrainment conditions for mutually-coupled, non-linear oscillators have been studied for a number of biomedical applications and using different analytical methods. The emphasis has been on entrainment between oscillators of similar frequencies.

Effect of the Entrainment Flux Ratio on the Relationship between Entrainment Rate and Convective Richardson Number

Boundary-Layer Meteorology, 2007
The parameterization of the dimensionless entrainment rate (we/w*) versus the convective Richardson number (Riδθ) is discussed in the framework of a first-order jump model (FOM). A theoretical estimation for the proportionality coefficient in this parameterization, namely, the total entrainment flux ratio, is derived.

Numerical study on the auxiliary entrainment performance of an ejector with different area ratio

Applied Thermal Engineering, 2021
Abstract In this paper, an ejector-based multi-evaporator refrigeration system is proposed for the tropical region refrigerated trucks. CFD simulations are performed to study the auxiliary entrainment effect of the ejector operated in air-conditioning - freezing mode.

Density Ratio and Entrainment Effects on Asymptotic Rayleigh–Taylor Instability

Journal of Fluids Engineering, 2017
A comprehensive numerical study was performed in order to examine the effect of density ratio on the mixing process inside the mixing zone formed by Rayleigh–Taylor instability (RTI). This effect exhibits itself in the mixing parameters and increase of the density of the bubbles.

Droplets entrainment ratio in a PWR hot-leg pipe geometry

Nuclear Engineering and Design, 2018
Abstract Droplets entrainment was found to contribute to the occurrence of countercurrent flow limitation (CCFL) at COLLIDER test facility which has a PWR hot-leg pipe geometry with a large diameter value of 190 mm. Previous investigations showed that droplets entrainment starts to become observable at medium water inlet velocities (In Wallis ...

Entrainment, axis switching, and aspect-ratio effects in rectangular free jets

4th Shear Flow Control Conference, 1997
Results of numerical simulations of low aspect-ratio rectangular jets are used to relate unsteady entrainment and fluid dynamics in the transitional regime, to examine their basic topological features and the role of aspect ratio effects. Two qualitatively different flow topologies for rectangular jets are demonstrated, with non-unity AR rectangular ...
