Dependence of the entrainment on the ratio of amplitudes between two subgroups in the suprachiasmatic nucleus

Physical Review E, 2018
Organisms can be synchronized not only to the natural 24-h light-dark cycle but also to artificial non-24-h cycles. Interestingly, when the period of the cycle is far from 24 h, organisms may show complicated behavioral patterns. For example, exposed to a 22-h light-dark cycle, in behavioral activity of rats, a phenomenon called "dissociation" emerges,

Effect of moisture in gasification of biomass using entrained flow gasifier at constant equivalence ratio

International Journal of Industrial and Systems Engineering, 2018
Biomass entrained flow gasification is a promising technology due to its commercial availability, high efficiency and high potential for the production of biofuels and chemicals from biomass. The entrained flow gasification has been investigated in order to evaluate the effect of the moisture content at a fixed equivalence ratio on the gasifier ...

The entrainment of the circadian caecotrophy rhythm with different light‐dark time ratios

Journal of Interdisciplinary Cycle Research, 1983
Abstract The circadian caecotrophy rhythm of 15 rabbits of a group 1 and 12 rabbits of a group 2 was continuously monitored in LD 12:12, 14:10, 16:8, 18:6, 20:4, and 22:2. The photoperiod was extended in opposite directions either by advancing the onset (group 1) or by delaying the end (group 2) of the photoperiod.

Flow regimes and surface air entrainment in partially filled stirred vessels for different fill ratios

Chemical Engineering Science, 2012
In many industrial applications, stirred vessels have a liquid height-to-tank diameter ratio (fill ratio), H/T, equal to, or larger than, 1.

The Effect of Operating Temperature and Equivalence Ratio in an Entrained Flow Gasification of EFB

Materials Today: Proceedings, 2019
Abstract Biomass is a renewable and sustainable source of energy that can be used to generate electricity and other forms of power. Rapid economic growth in developing countries, growing energy demand, high dependence on global and local transportation, pollution, depletion of sources, and endangered national security of energy importing countries ...

Mixing layer effects on the entrainment ratio in steam ejectors through ideal gas computational simulations

Energy, 2016
Ejector entrainment ratios are influenced by both pressure-driven effects and the mixing between the primary and secondary streams, but the significance of each factor has not been identified in prior literature. This paper presents a computational simulation investigation of flow in a representative steam ejector to specify the contribution of mixing ...

Effect of Stoichiometric Ratio on Char-Nitrogen Conversion under High-Temperature Entrained Flow Combustion Conditions

Energy & Fuels, 2018
The char-O2 reaction under high-temperature entrained flow conditions was investigated experimentally and numerically to study the effect of the stoichiometric ratio (SR) on char-nitrogen conversion. A numerical model was established based on the unsteady convection-diffusion and reaction equations, in which Stefan flow was considered.

The control of heterogeneous azeotropic distillation column in industry considering entrainer ratio in reflux

2003
Abstract In this paper, the control of heterogeneous azeotropic distillation of acetic acid + water with n-butyl-acetate as an entrainer is studied in an industrial distillation column. Generally, this column forms heterogeneous liquid phase not in the decanter but also in the upper part of the column.

Dynamic reduced order modeling of an entrained-flow slagging gasifier using a new recirculation ratio correlation

Fuel, 2017
Abstract This study presents a dynamic reduced order model (ROM) that describes the transient behaviour of an entrained-flow slagging gasifier. A new correlation for estimation of the recirculation ratio in the ROM’s reactor network is presented in this work by using the ROM and experimental data.

On the anatomy of mantle plumes: effect of the viscosity ratio on entrainment and stirring

Earth and Planetary Science Letters, 2002
Laminar entrainment of starting plumes with compositional buoyancy has been explored in a series of laboratory experiments. Two types of starting plume have been identified within the range of viscosity ratio ϵas of 10.4–856 (defined as the ratio of the ambient to the buoyant fluid).
