Fundamentals of Entransy and Entransy Dissipation Theory

2014
The entransy is a new developed parameter that is effective in optimization of heat transfer. It can be used as an evaluation of the transport ability of heat. In this chapter, based on the energy conservation equation, the entransy balance equations for heat conduction and convective heat transfer are developed.

Application of Entransy Theory in Thermal Storage System

2014
There are many possible capsule and tank geometry types and arrangements. It is very helpful to assess the performance of capsule arrangements, shapes, and flow field configurations. For this purpose, a general tool will be needed to assess the heat transfer which takes place between the capsules and the HTF and evaluate how efficient the process is ...

The Application of Entransy Dissipation Theory in Optimization Design of Heat Exchanger

2010 14th International Heat Transfer Conference, Volume 4, 2010
The heat conduction and fluid friction are two main detrimental irreversibilities in heat exchanger. According to the entransy dissipation theory, the entransy dissipation can be employed to quantify these two irreversibilities. In the present work, the optimization of heat exchanger design is investigated by applying the entransy dissipation theory ...

An integrated optimization for organic Rankine cycle based on entransy theory and thermodynamics

Energy, 2014
Abstract The organic Rankine cycle has been one of the essential heat-work conversion technologies nowadays. Lots of effectual optimization methods are focused on the promotion of the system efficiency, which are mainly relied on engineering experience and numerical simulations rather than theoretical analysis.

Generalized constructal optimization of strip laminar cooling process based on entransy theory

Science China Technological Sciences, 2016
A strip laminar cooling process is investigated in this paper. Entransy theory and generalized constructal optimization are introduced into the optimization. Total water flow amount (WFA) in the laminar cooling zone (LCZ) and complex function are taken as the constraint and optimization objective, respectively. The entransy dissipation (ED) and maximum

The Application of Entransy Dissipation Theory in the Volume-to-Point Heat Conduction Problem

2010 14th International Heat Transfer Conference, Volume 3, 2010
Recent advances in semiconductor technologies are accompanied by an accelerated increase in power density level from high performance chips such as microprocessors. The thermal management of electronic devices, especially meeting the limitations on maximum operating temperature and ensuring temperature uniformity across the chip, becomes one of the ...

Thermal performance analysis of non-uniform height rectangular fin based on constructal theory and entransy theory

Science China Technological Sciences, 2016
A model of non-uniform height rectangular fin, in which the variation of base’s thickness and width are taken into account, is established in this paper. The dimensionless maximum thermal resistance (DMTR) and the dimensionless equivalent thermal resistance (DETR) defined based on the entransy dissipation rate (EDR) are taken as performance evaluation ...

Minimization of the Total Area of Heat Exchangers in Refrigeration Systems Based on the Entransy Theory

ASME 2012 6th International Conference on Energy Sustainability, Parts A and B, 2012
In order to reduce the consumption of energy and material, the optimization design of the refrigeration systems, especially the minimization for the total area of the heat exchangers, has been an attractive but tough issue in both research and engineering fields.

Minimization of mass for heat exchanger networks in spacecrafts based on the entransy dissipation theory

International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer, 2012
Abstract Mass reduction strongly contributes to reduce the cost and promote the performance of spacecrafts. During the design of spacecrafts, mass minimization for the heat exchanger networks (HENs) is a fundamental and attractive issue for which series of global optimization methods based on numerical simulation have been applied. However, among the
