A bioinformatics screen identifies TCF19 as an aggressiveness‐sustaining gene in prostate cancer

Gene expression meta‐analysis in multiple prostate cancer patient cohorts identifies Transcription factor 19 (TCF19) as an aggressiveness‐sustaining gene with prognostic potential. TCF19 is a gene repressed by androgen signaling that sustains core cancer‐related processes such as vascular permeability or tumor growth and metastasis.

Multi‐omic profiling of squamous cell lung cancer identifies metabolites and related genes associated with squamous cell carcinoma

Using multi‐omic characterization, we aimed to identify key regulators specific to squamous cell lung carcinoma (SqCC). SqCC‐specific differentially expressed genes were integrated with metabolics data. High expression of the creatine transporter SLC6A8, along with elevated creatine levels, appeared to be a distinct metabolic feature of SqCC.

In vitro properties of patient serum predict clinical outcome after high dose rate brachytherapy of hepatocellular carcinoma

Following high dose rate brachytherapy (HDR‐BT) for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), patients were classified as responders and nonresponders. Post‐therapy serum induced increased BrdU incorporation and Cyclin E expression of Huh7 and HepG2 cells in nonresponders, but decreased levels in responders.

Ro 31‐8220 suppresses bladder cancer progression via enhancing autophagy in vitro and in vivo

Entropy, Information & the Arrow of Time in the Monadic Electron Universe

The study links entropy growth, time-irreversibility, and quantum entanglement to the topology of a single electron–positron world-line (“the monad”) that knots and links through space-time. A topological entropy S_topo is defined as the Boltzmann constant times the logarithm of the path-integral weight Omega(K) for each knot or link class K.

Structural and functional characterization of chitinase from carnivorous plant Drosera adelae

A class I chitinase from the carnivorous plant Drosera adelae was expressed and purified using a yeast system, revealing high enzymatic activity. Structural analyses of the catalytic and chitin‐binding domains identified key tyrosine residues involved in substrate binding, offering insights into the enzyme's adaptation for insect digestion.
