From Order to Entropy: How Gravity Shapes Time's Arrow
This educational handout by Matthew J. Hall, created with assistance from GPT-5 Thinking, provides a clear, step-by-step introduction to the relationship between entropy, gravity, and the arrow of time.Written in plain language for students and general readers, it explains how microscopic dynamics and coarse-graining produce the Second Law of ...

Directed evolution of enzymes at the crossroads of tradition and innovation
An iterative cycle of data‐driven enzyme optimization comprising four stages: genetic diversification of a template enzyme, expression of protein variants, high‐throughput evaluation, and machine‐learning‐guided redesign of the next variant library.

Cutaneous Melanoma Drives Metabolic Changes in the Aged Bone Marrow Immune Microenvironment
Melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer, increasingly affects older adults. Our study reveals that melanoma induces changes in iron and lipid levels in the bone marrow, impacting immune cell populations and increasing susceptibility to ferroptosis.

ABSTRACT As global populations age, cancer is increasingly becoming a leading cause of morbidity and mortality among older adults, particularly in low‐ and middle‐income countries (LMICs). Despite accounting for the majority of new cancer cases and deaths, older individuals remain underrepresented in cancer research, clinical guidelines, and health ...

Long‐Term Follow‐Up of Chemotherapy‐Associated Biological Aging in Women With Early Breast Cancer
Women threated with adjuvant chemotherapy for early breast cancer have sustained long‐term increase in p16INK4a,, a robust marker of cell senescence, suggesting a chemotherapy‐associated age acceleration. p16INK4a as well as other biomarkers may identify patients at greatest risk for senescence‐related diseases of aging.

Time Reversal, Entropy, and Computational Evolution: A Unified Perspective on the Arrow of Time
We investigate the fundamental nature of time-reversal symmetry and its progressive breakdown in complex, structured dynamical systems. Drawing on the Fluctuation Theorem and recent advances in quantum time-reversal experiments, we reveal that the process of computational evolution—by which systems develop increasingly sophisticated mechanisms to ...

Remote Monitoring in Myasthenia Gravis: Exploring Symptom Variability
ABSTRACT Background Myasthenia gravis (MG) is a rare, autoimmune disorder characterized by fluctuating muscle weakness and potential life‐threatening crises. While continuous specialized care is essential, access barriers often delay timely interventions. To address this, we developed MyaLink, a telemedical platform for MG patients.

Entropy, Information & the Arrow of Time in the Monadic Electron Universe
The study links entropy growth, time-irreversibility, and quantum entanglement to the topology of a single electron–positron world-line (“the monad”) that knots and links through space-time. A topological entropy S_topo is defined as the Boltzmann constant times the logarithm of the path-integral weight Omega(K) for each knot or link class K.

Patterns of Postictal Abnormalities in Relation to Status Epilepticus in Adults
ABSTRACT Objective Abnormalities on peri‐ictal diffusion‐weighted magnetic resonance imaging (DWI‐PMAs) are well‐established for patients with status epilepticus (SE), but knowledge on patterns of DWI‐PMAs and their prognostic impact is sparse. Methods This systematic review and individual participant data meta‐analysis included observational studies ...
