Entropy Generation Minimization analysis of oscillating-flow regenerators

International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer, 2015
Abstract The thermodynamic efficiencies of regenerative cooling cycles are directly linked to the heat transfer effectiveness and thermal losses in the regenerator. This paper proposes a performance analysis for regenerators based on the Entropy Generation Minimization (EGM) theory.

Entropy Generation Analysis for Nanofluid Flow in Microchannels

Journal of Heat Transfer, 2010
Employing a validated computer simulation model, entropy generation is analyzed in trapezoidal microchannels for steady laminar flow of pure water and CuO-water nanofluids. Focusing on microchannel heat sink applications, local and volumetric entropy rates caused by frictional and thermal effects are computed for different coolants, inlet temperatures,

Refined generalized multiscale entropy analysis for physiological signals

Physica A: Statistical Mechanics and its Applications, 2018
Abstract Multiscale entropy analysis has become a prevalent complexity measurement and been successfully applied in various fields. However, it only takes into account the information of mean values (first moment) in coarse-graining procedure. Then generalized multiscale entropy (MSE n ) considering higher moments to coarse-grain a time ...

Entropy generation analysis in flow of thixotropic nanofluid

International Journal of Numerical Methods for Heat & Fluid Flow, 2019
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to address entropy generation in flow of thixotropic nonlinear radiative nanoliquid over a variable stretching surface with impacts of inclined magnetic field, Joule heating, viscous dissipation, heat source/sink and chemical reaction. Characteristics of nanofluid are described by Brownian motion and thermophoresis

Entropy generation analysis of an adsorption cooling cycle

International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer, 2013
Abstract This paper discusses the analysis of an adsorption (AD) chiller using system entropy generation as a thermodynamic framework for evaluating total dissipative losses that occurred in a batch-operated AD cycle. The study focuses on an adsorption cycle operating at heat source temperatures ranging from 60 to 85 °C, whilst the chilled water ...

Generalized information entropy analysis of financial time series

Physica A: Statistical Mechanics and its Applications, 2018
Abstract Generalized information entropy has been widely applied to analyzing complex systems. In this paper, we propose the weighted multiscale Renyi permutation entropy (MSWRPE) based on the weight assigned to each vector as a novel technique to consider the amplitude information.

General Entropy Production Based on Dynamical Analysis

2015
The classical expression for entropy production is a bilinear product of generalized forces and fluxes. The combination of the Cattaneo-Vernotte model with the classical entropy expression gives a non-quadratic form, which needs to be mended to avoid the paradox of negative entropy production.

The Monte Carlo based virtual entropy generation analysis

Applied Thermal Engineering, 2017
Abstract Due to a lack of any persuasive principle in defining a reasonable error criterion, regulations of experiment measurement are mostly experience-based. Measurement criteria developed by virtual entropy generation (VEG) analysis provide a new perspective on experiment control and data reliability.
