Baryon and lepton number transport in electroweak phase transition [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
We consider the baryon number generation by charge transport mechanism in the electroweak phase transition taking properly into account thermal fluxes through the wall separating true and false vacuum in the spatial space. We show that the diffusion from

Methylation biomarkers can distinguish pleural mesothelioma from healthy pleura and other pleural pathologies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed and validated a DNA methylation–based biomarker panel to distinguish pleural mesothelioma from other pleural conditions. Using the IMPRESS technology, we translated this panel into a clinically applicable assay. The resulting two classifier models demonstrated excellent performance, achieving high AUC values and strong diagnostic accuracy.

Entropy production in classical Yang-Mills theory from Glasma initial conditions

open access: yes, 2013
We study the thermalization process in classical Yang-Mills (CYM) field theory starting from noisy glasma-like initial conditions by investigating the initial-value sensitivity of trajectories. Kunihiro et al.

Optimization of Conical Micro-Diffusers and Micro-Nozzles Considering Entropy Generation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Fluid flow characteristics and entropy generation in a circular diffuser/nozzle element are studied numerically. The flow is assumed to be isothermal, laminar and incompressible with constant thermo-physical properties. The velocity field, mass flow rate,

Detection of circulating tumor DNA in colorectal cancer patients using a methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed a cost‐effective methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex assay containing tissue‐conserved and tumor‐specific methylation markers. The assay can detect circulating tumor DNA with high accuracy in patients with localized and metastatic colorectal cancer.

Computations of local nonsimilar solutions for MHD flow of Reiner–Rivlin fluid

open access: yesNonlinear Analysis
Here local nonsimilar solution for hydromagnetic stretched flow of Reiner–Rivlin material is constructed. Heat generation, radiation, and dissipation in thermal expression are studied.

Computation and Estimation of Generalized Entropy Rates for Denumerable Markov Chains [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Information Theory, 2011
We study entropy rates of random sequences for general entropy functionals including the classical Shannon and Renyi entropies and the more recent Tsallis and Sharma-Mittal ones. In the first part, we obtain an explicit formula for the entropy rate for a large class of entropy functionals, as soon as the process satisfies a regularity property known in

Next‐generation proteomics improves lung cancer risk prediction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This is one of very few studies that used prediagnostic blood samples from participants of two large population‐based cohorts. We identified, evaluated, and validated an innovative protein marker model that outperformed an established risk prediction model and criteria employed by low‐dose computed tomography in lung cancer screening trials.

Thermodynamics Analysis of Radiative Hydromagnetic Couple Stress Fluid through a Channel [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
This work applies second law of thermodynamics to analyse the effect of radiation on electrically conducting couple stress fluid through a channel. A constant magnetic field is introduced across the flow channel and the resulting Navier- Stokes and ...
