Entropy Production of Main-Sequence Stars
The entropy production (inside the volume bounded by a photosphere) of main-sequence stars is calculated based on B–V photometry data. The entropy-production distribution function and the dependences of entropy production on temperature and luminosity ...

Nonequilibrium quantum-impurities: from entropy production to information theory
Nonequilibrium steady-state currents, unlike their equilibrium counterparts, continuously dissipate energy into their physical surroundings leading to entropy production and time-reversal symmetry breaking.

Entropy Production in Relativistic Hydrodynamics [PDF]
The entropy production occurring in relativistic hydrodynamical systems such as the quark-gluon plasma (QGP) formed in high-energy nuclear collisions is explored. We study mechanisms which change the composition of the fluid, i.e. particle production and/

Rad27/FEN1 prevents accumulation of Okazaki fragments and ribosomal DNA copy number changes
The budding yeast Rad27 is a structure‐specific endonuclease. Here, the authors reveal that Rad27 is crucial for maintaining the stability of the ribosomal RNA gene (rDNA) region. Rad27 deficiency leads to the accumulation of Okazaki fragments and changes in rDNA copy number.

Entropy production of nonreciprocal interactions
Nonreciprocal interactions are present in many systems out of equilibrium. The rate of entropy production is a measure that quantifies the time irreversibility of a system, and thus how far it is from equilibrium.

Entropy production selects nonequilibrium states in multistable systems
Far-from-equilibrium thermodynamics underpins the emergence of life, but how has been a long-outstanding puzzle. Best candidate theories based on the maximum entropy production principle could not be unequivocally proven, in part due to complicated ...

Exact Coarse Graining Preserves Entropy Production out of Equilibrium. [PDF]
The entropy production rate associated with broken time-reversal symmetry provides an essential characterization of nanosystems out of equilibrium, from driven colloidal particles to molecular motors.

Bifidobacterium bifidum establishes symbiosis with infants by metabolizing lacto‐N‐biose I (LNB) from human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs). The extracellular multidomain enzyme LnbB drives this process, releasing LNB via its catalytic glycoside hydrolase family 20 (GH20) lacto‐N‐biosidase domain.

The seawater circulation pump represents the pump product with the largest flow rate within nuclear power plants. Its energy consumption accounts for a substantial portion of the energy consumed by nuclear power plants.
