Product Entropy of Gaussian Distributions

open access: yesThe Annals of Mathematical Statistics, 1969
0. Summary. This paper studies the product epsilon entropy of mean-continous Gaussian processes. That is, a given mean-continuous Gaussian process on the unit interval is expanded into its Karhulnen expansion. Along the kth eigenfunction axis, a partition by intervals of length Ek iS made, and the entropy of the resulting discrete distribution is noted.

Structural insights into lacto‐N‐biose I recognition by a family 32 carbohydrate‐binding module from Bifidobacterium bifidum

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bifidobacterium bifidum establishes symbiosis with infants by metabolizing lacto‐N‐biose I (LNB) from human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs). The extracellular multidomain enzyme LnbB drives this process, releasing LNB via its catalytic glycoside hydrolase family 20 (GH20) lacto‐N‐biosidase domain.

Entropy production by evapotranspiration and its geographic variation

open access: yesSoil and Water Research, 2008
The hydrologic cycle is a system far from thermodynamic equilibrium that is characterized by its rate of entropy production in the climatological mean steady state.

Statistical properties of entropy production derived from fluctuation theorems

open access: yes, 2010
Several implications of well-known fluctuation theorems, on the statistical properties of the entropy production, are studied using various approaches. We begin by deriving a tight lower bound on the variance of the entropy production for a given mean of

Interplay between circadian and other transcription factors—Implications for cycling transcriptome reprogramming

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This perspective highlights emerging insights into how the circadian transcription factor CLOCK:BMAL1 regulates chromatin architecture, cooperates with other transcription factors, and coordinates enhancer dynamics. We propose an updated framework for how circadian transcription factors operate within dynamic and multifactorial chromatin landscapes ...

On Entropic Framework Based on Standard and Fractional Phonon Boltzmann Transport Equations

open access: yesEntropy, 2019
Generalized expressions of the entropy and related concepts in non-Fourier heat conduction have attracted increasing attention in recent years. Based on standard and fractional phonon Boltzmann transport equations (BTEs), we study entropic functionals ...

Estimating time-dependent entropy production from non-equilibrium trajectories

open access: yesCommunications Physics, 2022
While methods for estimating the entropy production rate of a stationary process are relatively well established, this is still a challenge in non-stationary conditions.

Disordered but rhythmic—the role of intrinsic protein disorder in eukaryotic circadian timing

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Unstructured domains known as intrinsically disordered regions (IDRs) are present in nearly every part of the eukaryotic core circadian oscillator. IDRs enable many diverse inter‐ and intramolecular interactions that support clock function. IDR conformations are highly tunable by post‐translational modifications and environmental conditions, which ...

Entropy current and entropy production in relativistic spin hydrodynamics

open access: yesPhysics Letters B
We use a first-principle quantum-statistical method to derive the expression of the entropy production rate in relativistic spin hydrodynamics. We show that the entropy current is not uniquely defined and can be changed by means of entropy-gauge ...
