Quantum Martingale Theory and Entropy Production [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2019
We develop a martingale theory to describe fluctuations of entropy production for open quantum systems in nonequilbrium steady states. Using the formalism of quantum jump trajectories, we identify a decomposition of entropy production into an exponential martingale and a purely quantum term, both obeying integral fluctuation theorems.

Cavitation Characteristics and Structure Optimization of Two-Dimensional Valve Based on Entropy Production Theory [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied Fluid Mechanics, 2023
In addition to noise and vibration, cavitation also lowers the efficiency, performance, and working lives of two-dimensional valves. To study the effect of cavitation on the flow characteristics of two-dimensional valves, standard  turbulence model and ...

Analysis of Hydraulic Losses in Vortex Rope Inside the Draft Tube of Francis Pump-Turbine Based on Entropy Production Theory

open access: yesMachines, 2023
The existence of vortex ropes inside the draft tube significantly impacts hydraulic efficiency and operational stability, and few studies on the formation mechanism of vortex ropes and hydraulic loss problems have been explored.

Geometrical aspects of entropy production in stochastic thermodynamics based on Wasserstein distance

open access: yesPhysical Review Research, 2021
We study a relationship between optimal transport theory and stochastic thermodynamics for the Fokker-Planck equation. We show that the lower bound on the entropy production is the action measured by the path length of the L^{2}-Wasserstein distance ...

Suppressing the Vortex Rope Oscillation and Pressure Fluctuations by the Air Admission in Propeller Hydro-Turbine Draft Tube [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied Fluid Mechanics, 2023
For the purpose of automatic generation control (AGC), a portion of the propeller hydro-turbine units in China is adjusted to operate within a restricted range of 75%-85% load using computer-controlled AGC strategies.

Theoretical Analysis of Entropy Generation at the Blade Interface of a Tubular Turbine Under Cooperative Conditions

open access: yesFrontiers in Energy Research, 2021
To study the influence of the blade entropy production range on the efficiency of a tubular turbine under coassociated conditions, the renormalization group K–ε turbulence model was used to simulate the full flow passage of the tubular turbine based on ...

Entropy Analysis of a Valveless Piezoelectric Pump With Hyperbolic Tubes

open access: yesFrontiers in Energy Research, 2022
In order to solve the problems of large reflux and low output performance of the valveless piezoelectric pump with conical tubes, the valveless piezoelectric pump with hyperbolic tubes was proposed.

On Entropy Production of Repeated Quantum Measurements I. General Theory [PDF]

open access: yesCommunications in Mathematical Physics, 2017
We study entropy production (EP) in processes involving repeated quantum measurements of finite quantum systems. Adopting a dynamical system approach, we develop a thermodynamic formalism for the EP and study fine aspects of irreversibility related to the hypothesis testing of the arrow of time.

Steady state entropy production rate for scalar Langevin field theories [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Statistical Mechanics: Theory and Experiment, 2021
Abstract The entropy production rate (EPR) offers a quantitative measure of time reversal symmetry breaking in non-equilibrium systems. It can be defined either at particle level or at the level of coarse-grained fields such as density; the EPR for the latter quantifies the extent to which these coarse-grained fields behave irreversibly.
