Sarcopenia can be considered a geriatric syndrome characterized by loss of muscle mass and strength and/or physical performance; to establish this diagnosis is necessary the documentation of at least two of the three previous criteria. This condition can have very serious consequences, as the frailty syndrome in the elderly.
