Sun exposure drives Antarctic cryptoendolithic community structure and composition [PDF]
The harsh environmental conditions of the ice-free regions of Continental Antarctica are considered one of the closest Martian analogues on Earth. There, rocks play a pivotal role as substratum for life and endolithism represents a primary habitat for ...

Breast cancer metastasis is associated with myeloid cell dysregulation and the lung‐specific accumulation of tumor‐supportive Gr1+ cells. Gr1+ cells support metastasis, in part, through a CHI3L1‐mediated mechanism, which can be targeted and inhibited with cargo‐free, polymeric nanoparticles.

Measurement Error Correction for Spatially Defined Environmental Exposures in Survival Analysis [PDF]
Environmental exposures are often defined using buffer zones around geocoded home addresses, but these static boundaries can miss dynamic daily activity patterns, leading to biased results. This paper presents a novel measurement error correction method for spatially defined environmental exposures within a survival analysis framework using the Cox ...

Fish Advisories: Useful Or Difficult to Interpret? [PDF]
The authors note that fish and shellfish offer significant exposure to environmental toxins but find that consumer knowledge and other factors may limit efforts to control risk in urban ...

This study develops a semi‐supervised classifier integrating multi‐genomic data (1404 training/5893 validation samples) to improve homologous recombination deficiency (HRD) detection in breast cancer. Our method demonstrates prognostic value and predicts chemotherapy/PARP inhibitor sensitivity in HRD+ tumours.

A general approach to modeling environmental mixtures with multivariate outcomes [PDF]
An important goal of environmental health research is to assess the health risks posed by mixtures of multiple environmental exposures. In these mixtures analyses, flexible models like Bayesian kernel machine regression and multiple index models are appealing because they allow for arbitrary non-linear exposure-outcome relationships.

Systematic profiling of cancer‐fibroblast interactions reveals drug combinations in ovarian cancer
Fibroblasts, cells in the tumor environment, support ovarian cancer cell growth and alter morphology and drug response. We used fibroblast and cancer cell co‐culture models to test 528 drugs and discovered new drugs for combination treatment. We showed that adding Vorinostat or Birinapant to standard chemotherapy may improve drug response, suggesting ...
