Comparative Evaluation of Hemodiafiltration, Hemoperfusion, and Standard Hemodialysis on Efficacy, Inflammatory Control, Dialysis Adequacy, and Safety in End‐Stage Renal Disease: A Prospective Observational Study

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Chronic micro‐inflammation in patients with end‐stage renal disease (ESRD) is a significant driver of cardiovascular complications and diminished quality of life. While standard hemodialysis (SHD) effectively manages small‐molecule clearance, its ability to remove medium‐to‐large uremic toxins—the primary catalysts of systemic ...

Isolation and growth-promoting mechanisms of phosphate-solubilizing bacteria from Qinghai-Tibet Plateau in Lespedeza bicolor Turcz

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology
IntroductionThe recovery of slopes in high-altitude areas is often challenging due to insufficient nutrients in the soil, with phosphorus deficiency being a key limiting factor for plant growth.

Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Exploring Brain Size Asymmetry and Its Relationship with Predation Risk Among Chinese Anurans

open access: yesBiology
Brain size asymmetry differs considerably across species, including humans, vertebrates, and invertebrates. The subtle structural, functional, or size differences between the two brain sides are associated with processing specific cognitive tasks.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Types of zooplankton community and influencing factors in summer in Shuaishui River

open access: yes上海师范大学学报. 自然科学版, 2019
In August 2018,we set 19 sampling sites in Shuaishui River which is the biggest tributary of Xin'an River,to collect zooplankton samples and measure in situ physicochemical variables. The results showed that a total of 22 species belonging to 2 families ...

Urbanization-induced environmental changes strongly affect wetland soil bacterial community composition and diversity

open access: yesEnvironmental Research Letters, 2022
Soil microbial communities potentially serve as indicators for their responses to changes in various ecosystems at scales from a region to the globe.
