B cell mechanobiology in health and disease: emerging techniques and insights into therapeutic responses

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
B cells sense external mechanical forces and convert them into biochemical signals through mechanotransduction. Understanding how malignant B cells respond to physical stimuli represents a groundbreaking area of research. This review examines the key mechano‐related molecules and pathways in B lymphocytes, highlights the most relevant techniques to ...

High-resolution two-dimensional mapping of arsenic concentration in soil-water micro-interfaces with diffusive gradients in thin films

open access: yesEnvironmental Chemistry and Ecotoxicology
Arsenic (As) contamination in soils poses significant environmental and health risks, particularly in Asia. We present a new diffusive Gradients in thin-film (DGT) binding material (Bio-TiO2) using microbial-assisted in situ precipitation, to determine ...

P‐glycoprotein modulates the fluidity gradient of the plasma membrane of multidrug resistant CHO cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
To explore the impact of the overexpression of the multidrug‐transporter P‐glycoprotein (ABCB1) on membrane fluidity, we compared the transversal gradient of mobility and microviscosity in plasma membranes of drug‐sensitive Chinese hamster ovary cells (AuxB1) and their multidrug‐resistant derivatives (B30) using the fluorescent n‐(9‐anthroyloxy) fatty ...

The effect of environmental stochasticity on species richness in neutral communities [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2016
Environmental stochasticity is known to be a destabilizing factor, increasing abundance fluctuations and extinction rates of populations. However, the stability of a community may benefit from the differential response of species to environmental variations due to the storage effect.

A coiled‐coil domain triggers oligomerization of MmpL10, the mycobacterial transporter of trehalose polyphleate precursor

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Most MmpLs transport lipids and glycolipids of the complex mycomembrane of mycobacteria. This study shows that MmpL10 from Mycobacterium smegmatis, the transporter of the trehalose polyphosphate precursor, harbors a coiled‐coil‐like extension. Biochemical and electron microscopy studies demonstrate that the coiled‐coil enables MmpL10 to trimerize.

The effects of selenium on the translation efficiency of selenoproteins GPX1, GPX4, and TXNRD1 in oxLDL-induced EA.hy926 cells

open access: yesFood Science and Human Wellness
Selenium is a crucial trace element that contributes to physiological processes in the body as selenoproteins. Selenoproteins serve as an integral role in the body in controlling the redox state of cells and protecting against damage induced by oxidative

Evolutionary interplay between viruses and R‐loops

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Viruses interact with specialized nucleic acid structures called R‐loops to influence host transcription, epigenetic states, latency, and immune evasion. This Perspective examines the roles of R‐loops in viral replication, integration, and silencing, and how viruses co‐opt or avoid these structures.

Purification tags markedly affect self‐aggregation of CPEB3

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Although recombinant proteins are used to study protein aggregation in vitro, uncleaved tags can interfere with accurate interpretation. Our findings demonstrate that His₆‐GFP and His₁₂ tags significantly affect liquid droplet and amyloid fibril formation in the intrinsically disordered region (IDR) of mouse cytoplasmic polyadenylation element‐binding ...

Endogenous timing factors in bird migration [PDF]

open access: yes, 1972
Several species of warbler birds were observed in an effort to determine what initiates and terminates migration. Environmental and endogenous timing mechanisms were analyzed.

Personal Factors, Internet Characteristics, and Environmental Factors Contributing to Adolescent Internet Addiction: A Public Health Perspective

open access: yesInternational Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health, 2019
Individual characteristics, family- and school-related variables, and environmental variables have equal importance in understanding Internet addiction. Most previous studies on Internet addiction have focused on individual factors; those that considered
