Remote Assessment of Ataxia Severity in SCA3 Across Multiple Centers and Time Points

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Spinocerebellar ataxia type 3 (SCA3) is a genetically defined ataxia. The Scale for Assessment and Rating of Ataxia (SARA) is a clinician‐reported outcome that measures ataxia severity at a single time point. In its standard application, SARA fails to capture short‐term fluctuations, limiting its sensitivity in trials.

A new methodology for probabilistic flood displacement risk assessment: the case of Fiji and Vanuatu

open access: yesFrontiers in Climate
This paper presents an enhanced probabilistic flood displacement risk assessment methodology. Several techniques have been proposed to estimate the number of people at risk of being displaced triggered due to climatic extremes.

Wireless Sensor Networks:A case study for Energy Efficient Environmental Monitoring

open access: yes, 2008
Energy efficiency is a key issue for wireless sensor networks, since sensors nodes can often be powered by non-renewable batteries. In this paper, we examine four MAC protocols in terms of energy consumption, throughput and energy efficiency.

Diffusion Spectrum Imaging Maps Early Axonal Loss and a Unique Progressive Signal in Neuronal Intranuclear Inclusion Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To delineate specific in vivo white matter pathology in neuronal intranuclear inclusion disease (NIID) using diffusion spectrum imaging (DSI) and define its clinical relevance. Methods DSI was performed on 42 NIID patients and 38 matched controls.

Spatial processes dominate the metacommunity structure and diversity of macroinvertebrates in the waters of eastern China

open access: yesFrontiers in Ecology and Evolution
The emergence of metacommunity theory has provided a framework for studying the spatial structure of biological communities. To unravel the underlying driving mechanisms of macroinvertebrate metacommunity structure and diversity, this paper evaluates ...

Environmental monitoring in heterogeneous soil-landscapes; A Dutch case study [PDF]

open access: yes
The spatial heterogeneity of agricultural soil-landscapes is mostly not taken into account in environmental policies. Most environmental goals have been defined at national level or farm level but not at the landscape level.

Heterogeneity of Rheumatoid Arthritis–Associated Interstitial Lung Disease by Longitudinal Forced Vital Capacity Trajectory and Associations With Disease Outcomes

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective We aimed to identify unique disease trajectories within rheumatoid arthritis–associated interstitial lung disease (RA‐ILD) based on longitudinal forced vital capacity (FVC) values and their associated clinical outcomes. Methods We performed a cohort study of RA‐ILD within the Veterans Health Administration from 1999 to 2021.

A critical review of radiocarbon in environment

open access: yesDiscover Environment
Radiocarbon is a radionuclide of considerable interest due to its long half-life and high environmental mobility. Since carbon is the biological backbone of the biosphere, radiocarbon can incorporate very quickly into the natural carbon cycle ...
