Assessment of environmental noise due to aircraft operation at the Athens International Airport according to the 2002/49/EC Directive and the new Greek national legislation

Applied Acoustics, 2014
Abstract Athens International Airport “Eleftherios Venizelos” (A.I.A.) is one of the most modern, functional and safest airports in the world and constitutes the largest hub of air travel in south eastern Europe. Environmental noise from aircraft movements at the airport is a crucial environmental factor of urban environment and quality of life ...

Responding to the Environmental Noise Directive by demonstrating the benefits of rail grinding on the Great Britain’s* railway network

Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part F: Journal of Rail and Rapid Transit, 2013
This paper investigates a significant reduction in environmental noise attributable to changes in the Network Rail grinding strategy employed within GB. It also considers how these findings could inform noise mapping and action plans required by the Environmental Noise Directive (END).

Directivity as a discriminant in monitoring of air-acoustic environmental noise

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1974
Directivity is useful in the automatic monitoring of air-acoustic environmental noise because discrimination is possible not only between ground and airborne sources, but between different ground sources as wall. The experimental program compared omnidirectionals, gradients, cardioids, donuts, cardonuts, and second-order donuts as vertical ...

Evaluation of barrier performance by direct environmental noise simulation

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2012
After a city has experienced rapid urbanization, it is usually left with many pollution problems (e.g. air, noise, etc.) that hinder its further sustainable growth. Worsen by the rapid increase in the demands of land transportation for high population mobility; the traffic noise inevitably becomes a serious environmental problem.

Environmental Noise Directive - results of noise mapping in Germany

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2008
The Environmental Noise Directive intends the development of a concept to avoid, prevent or reduce on a prioritised basis the harmful effects, including annoyance, due to exposure to environmental noise and to inform the public on environmental noise and its effects.

The environmental noise directive as a catalyst for change in noise policy

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2012
The Environmental Noise Directive entered into EU legislation in 2002, and subsequently into the national legislation within the 27 Member States. The Directive sets out a strategic framework for a consistent approach to the management of environmental noise within the EC through a cycle of strategic noise mapping, public consultation and action ...

Umgebungslärmrichtlinie in Schleswig-Holstein/Environmental Noise Directive in Schleswig-Holstein

ACCELEROMETER INTENSITY VECTOR SENSOR NETWORK FOR ENVIRONMENTAL NOISE MONITORING WITH SOURCE DIRECTION AND LOCATION

Inter-Noise 2022, 2023
AIVS (Accelerometer-based Intensity Vector Sensors, /āvs/) represent a new way to measure 3-d sound and are designed to integrate into existing noise monitoring solutions. Standard microphones measure sound pressure, which cannot alone deduce the direction of sound propagation.

Evaluation of environmental noise susceptibility of RF circuits using direct power injection

2009 IEEE International Symposium on Radio-Frequency Integration Technology (RFIT), 2009
Susceptibility of radio frequency (RF) circuits against environmental noises was evaluated by way of direct power injection. Measurements performed on a 90-nm 2.45 GHz CMOS RF driver amplifier show that the injection of RF power into on-die p+ guard bands creates tones at the primary and up-converted frequencies.
