Comparative Study of Ag Nanostructures: Molecular Simulations, Electrochemical Behavior, and Antibacterial Effect

Nanoparticles of Ag with different sizes and structures were obtained and studied. Two methods for reductions of Ag ions were employed, chemical reduction by sodium borohydride and ethylene glycol. Cuboctahedral and icosahedral structures were obtained. Molecular simulations were carried out in order to evaluate the reactivity of both structures.

The synthesis of α‐Fe2O3‐Ag bimetallic nanoparticles using a novel and simplified route is presented in this work. These hybrid nanoparticles were produced using a modification of the chemical reduction method by sodium borohydride (NaBH4). Fe(III) chloride hexahydrate (FeCl3·6H2O) and silver nitrate (AgNO3) as precursors were employed.

A Novel Route for the Preparation of Gold Nanoparticles in Polycaprolactone Nanofibers

A facile strategy for the fabrication of polycaprolactone (PCL) nanofibers containing gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) is proposed. The method is based on electrospinning nanosuspensions loaded with passivated Au nanoparticles. The optical property of gold nanoparticles synthesized was observed by UV‐visible absorption spectra.

Thermal degradation of aluminum formate sol-gel; synthesis of α-alumina and characterization by 1H, 13C and 27Al MAS NMR and XRD spectroscopy

Thermal transformation of aluminum formate sol-gel to α-Al2O3 is reported. XRD and IR spectroscopy confirmed the presence of the precursor at 25 °C, and showed the precursor hydroxide at 200 °C.
