Mycotoxins‐contaminated wheat matrices bioconversion by Tenebrio molitor larvae (Coleoptera: Tenebrionidae)

open access: yesInsect Science, EarlyView.
Larval development time, ADG, survival rate and substrate consumption were not negatively affected by the levels of mycotoxins contamination Larvae excreted most of the ingested DON and its derivatives through exuviae and frass The mycotoxin accumulation rates observed in larvae were always below the current legal limits for livestock feed Abstract ...

Cell-Free Enzymatic Conversion of Spent Coffee Grounds Into the Platform Chemical Lactic Acid

open access: yesFrontiers in Bioengineering and Biotechnology, 2019
The coffee industry produces over 10 billion kg beans per year and generates high amounts of different waste products. Spent coffee grounds (SCG) are an industrially underutilized waste resource, which is rich in the polysaccharide galactomannan, a ...

Iterative Genome Engineering Platform Enables Efficient Sucrose Biosynthesis From CO2 in Photosynthetic Synechococcus elongatus UTEX 2973

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The single crossover occurring via homologous recombination is a common phenomenon existing among microbes like Escherichia coli, Bacillus subtilis, Vibrio natriegens, Gluconobacter oxydans and most cyanobacteria species, threatening the stability of engineered strains and challenging iterative genetic engineering. Among them, we take the fast‐

Enzymatic Bioconversion of Agave Leaves FiberHydrolysis Using Plackett-Burman Design [PDF]

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Agricultural and Biological Sciences, 2011
Problem statement: Biofuels production is becoming a key factor to help decrease pollution levels and the dependency of fossil fuels. Cellulose from lignocellulosic biomass is being used as a source of raw material for biofuels production, specifically bioethanol, so many ways to use it for this purpose are being developed.

The lipoxygenase metabolic pathway in plants: potential for industrial production of natural green leaf volatiles [PDF]

open access: yesBiotechnologie, Agronomie, Société et Environnement, 2010
Lipoxygenase enzymatic pathway is a widely studied mechanism in the plant kingdom. Combined actions of three enzymes: lipase, lipoxygenase (LOX) and hydroperoxide lyase (HPL) convert lipidic substrates such as C18:2 and C18:3 fatty acids into short chain

Tunable Natural Deep Eutectic Solvents‐Driven Fractionation of Olive Pomace in an Integrated Biorefinery: Linking Lignin Structural Tailoring to Carbohydrate Valorization and Biopolymer Production

open access: yesChemSusChem, Volume 19, Issue 13, 14 July 2026.
Microwave‐conditioned olive pomace was fractionated with deep eutectic solvents (DESs) spanning acidic, neutral, alkaline, and chemo‐enzymatic regimes. The alkaline DES provided the best balance between delignification and carbohydrate preservation, yielding a fermentable glucose/xylose stream suitable for Haloferax mediterranei fermentation and poly(3‐

Difficulties and solutions for the assays of the key enzymes of a new enzymatic glycerol bioconversion

open access: yesPeriodica Polytechnica Chemical Engineering, 2008
For years our research group has been working on developing a new enzymatic method for the bioconversion of glycerol (a byproduct of biodiesel production) to 1,3-propanediol (PD) and 1,3-dihydroxyacetone (DHA) simultaneously. Our bioconversion method applies three key enzymes in a membrane reactor with coenzyme regeneration: glycerol-dehydratase (GDHt)

Polygonatum cyrtonema Polysaccharides‐Derived Metabolic Meta Alleviates ALD via a Gut–Liver Axis–Mediated, Bifidobacterium pseudolongum–Driven Suppression of the AA Metabolism–MAPK Signaling Network

open access: yesFood Frontiers, Volume 7, Issue 4, July 2026.
This study demonstrates that the hepatoprotective effect of Polygonatum cyrtonema polysaccharide (PCP) is mediated by its gut microbiota‐derived metabolome, which enriches Bifidobacterium pseudolongum, suppresses the gut–liver axis of AA metabolism, and inhibits hepatic MAPK signaling. ABSTRACT Polygonatum cyrtonema, a traditional Chinese medicinal and

Harnessing Acoustic Cavitation Energy for the Selective Degradation of Impurities in Glucose Syrup

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Volume 32, Issue 23, 16 June 2026.
The energy released during the implosion of acoustic cavitation bubbles can be harnessed and selectively transferred to a target solute, enabling its specific decomposition without degrading other solutes present in the solution. This proof of concept was demonstrated in the degradation of impurities present in trace amount in glucose syrup.
