B‐cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia (B‐CLL) and monoclonal B‐cell lymphocytosis (MBL) show altered proteomes and phosphoproteomes, analyzed using mass spectrometry, protein microarrays, and western blotting. Identifying 2970 proteins and 316 phosphoproteins, including 55 novel phosphopeptides, we reveal BCR and NF‐kβ/STAT3 signaling in disease ...

Comprehensive analysis of genomic mutations, gene expression, DNA methylation, and pathway analysis of TCGA data was carried out to define cancer types in which proteasome subunits expression is associated with worse survival. Albeit the effect of specific proteasome subunits on cellular function, the main role of the proteasome is better evaluated ...

Spatio-temporal correlations can drastically change the response of a MAPK pathway
Multisite covalent modification of proteins is omnipresent in eukaryotic cells. A well-known example is the mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) cascade, where in each layer of the cascade a protein is phosphorylated at two sites.

Breast cancer metastasis is associated with myeloid cell dysregulation and the lung‐specific accumulation of tumor‐supportive Gr1+ cells. Gr1+ cells support metastasis, in part, through a CHI3L1‐mediated mechanism, which can be targeted and inhibited with cargo‐free, polymeric nanoparticles.

Lipid-induced NOX2 activation inhibits autophagic flux by impairing lysosomal enzyme activity[S]
Autophagy is a catabolic process involved in maintaining energy and organelle homeostasis. The relationship between obesity and the regulation of autophagy is cell type specific.

Catalytic enzymes are active matter
SignificanceCatalysis and mobility of reactants in fluid are normally thought to be decoupled. Violating this classical paradigm, this paper presents the catalyst laws of motion. Comparing experimental data to the theory presented here, we conclude that part of the free energy released by chemical reaction is channeled into driving catalysts to execute

This study investigates gene expression differences between two major pediatric acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) subtypes, B‐cell precursor ALL, and T‐cell ALL, using a data‐driven approach consisting of biostatistics and machine learning methods. Following analysis of a discovery dataset, we find a set of 14 expression markers differentiating the ...

NOX Inhibitors - A Promising Avenue for Ischemic Stroke. [PDF]
NADPH-oxidase (NOX) mediated superoxide originally found on leukocytes, but now recognized in several types of cells in the brain. It has been shown to play an important role in the progression of stroke and related cerebrovascular disease.

TRPM8 levels determine tumor vulnerability to channel agonists
TRPM8 is a Ca2+ permissive channel. Regardless of the amount of its transcript, high levels of TRPM8 protein mark different tumors, including prostate, breast, colorectal, and lung carcinomas. Targeting TRPM8 with channel agonists stimulates inward calcium currents followed by emptying of cytosolic Ca2+ stores in cancer cells.
