Apparent Induced Enzyme Formation due to Co-enzyme Deficiency
Nature, 1954PREVIOUS studies by Happold and Hoyle1 and Dolby, Hall and Happold2 made it appear certain that the enzyme tryptophanase was induced in cultures of Escherichia coli only in response to the presence of tryptophan in the medium in which the cell was grown. It was not developed in a complete amino-acid medium which also contained glucose but, as was shown

The co-administration of antiepileptic drugs (AED) and chemotherapeutic agents in patients with glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is common. Interactions of chemotherapeutic agents and AED have not been investigated sufficiently. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effects of enzyme inducing (EI-AED) and non-EI-AED in patients with GBM treated ...

Ticlopidine-induced elevated liver enzymes.
Pharmacotherapy, 1997Ticlopidine is a reasonable alternative to prevent stroke and myocardial infarction when aspirin is intolerable or ineffective. It can be limited, however, by its severe adverse effect profile. The most worrisome of these is neutropenia, although clinicians must be mindful of other adverse events that may be caused by this drug.

Inducibility of Metabolizing Enzymes
2011Besides genetic polymorphisms, another important toxicologically relevant feature associated with foreign compound metabolism is the inducibility of metabolizing enzymes. Some foreign compounds exhibit intrinsic toxicity, while some others are metabolically activated to potential toxic metabolic intermediates by activation enzymes.

Regulation of Sulfotransferase Enzymes by Prototypical Microsomal Enzyme Inducers in Mice
The Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics, 2008In the present study, the regulation of the mRNA of 11 sulfotransferases (Sults) and two 3'-phosphoadenosine 5'-phosphosulfate synthase (PAPSs) isozymes by 15 microsomal enzyme inducers (MEI) in livers of male mice and five MEIs in livers of female mice was examined.

Early Kinetics of Induced Enzyme Synthesis
1979The author arrived too late at the Pasteur Institute to participate in the great adventure: the founding of molecular biology. But she was around long enough to witness many later developments. A few years later, a paper by the Jacques Monod impressed the author profoundly.

Dietary Inducers of Detoxification Enzymes
2020Extensive studies have demonstrated that consumption of vegetables and fruits is inversely correlated with chronic disease incidence. Non-nutritive components that offer beneficial effects for humans against the risk of degenerative and chronic diseases are believed to link to the induction of the expression of metabolic detoxification enzymes. Dietary
