Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Structural and functional comparisons between vanadium haloperoxidase and acid phosphatase enzymes.

open access: yes, 2002
The crystallographic structures of both the vanadium chloroperoxidase and bromoperoxidase enzymes have been determined with either vanadium or phosphate bound at their active site.

Lignocellulosic Enzymes Characterization and Scanning Electron Microscope Analysis on Rice Bran Surface Structure Changes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Rice bran was one of livestock food ingredients wit h high crude fibers contents, including cellulose and hemicelluloses. Lignocellulosic enzymes such as xylanase and cellulase functioned in degrading cellulose and ...

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Seasonal Variation in Bivalve Antioxidant Enzymes: Can they be used as indicators of heavy metal contamination? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Seasonal variations in the activity of several enzymes (glutathione reductase (GR), glutathione S-transferase (GST), and glutathione peroxidase (GPx)) involved in the glutathione cellular defence system were measured in whole tissues of the common New ...

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

Spatial activity mapping of ß-mannanase on soybean seeds

open access: yesScientific Reports
For farm animals the supplementation of exogenous enzymes, like ß-mannanase, to soybean-based diets is beneficial to improve feed digestibility. In order to unravel the effect of ß-mannanase on soybean meal’s cell structure, a novel imaging concept was ...
