Identifying and Interpreting Stratification in Sedimentary Rocks on Mars: Insight from Rover and Orbital Observations and Terrestrial Field Analogs [PDF]
Sedimentary rocks on Mars provide insight into past aqueous and atmospheric processes, climate regimes, and potential habitability. The stratigraphic architecture of sedimentary rocks on Mars is similar to that of Earth, indicating that the processes ...

ABSTRACT The Triassic succession of the northern North Sea comprises a series of interbedded sandstones, mudstones and conglomerates deposited under a fluctuating arid to semi‐humid climate regime, which are often difficult to correlate regionally due to differing lithostratigraphic schemes and poor age control. Despite existing regional studies on the

Dust emission by powder handling: Influence of the hopper outlet on the dust plume [PDF]
Dust generation in solids handling involving free fall of bulk materials and impacts on a stockpile can cause many problems in industry and be a great danger for operators health. This paper describes an experimental set up to characterize the dust plume

Abstract Hardware released during spacecraft entry can generate hypervelocity impacts that provide unique constraints on planetary subsurface properties. During NASA's Perseverance descent, two tungsten cruise ballast mass devices (CBMD) and fragments of the cruise stage formed meter‐scale craters north‐west of Jezero crater, in one of the sinuous ...

Eolian dust origin of fine quartz in selected soils, Japan.
The oxygen isotopic ratios of fine quartz from twenty Japanese soils developed in the last Glacial and Holocene ages are remarkably uniform (δ18O SMOW=14.1 to 16.9‰), suggesting their common origin in eolian dust; most Japanese soils have been influenced significantly by tropospheric eolian materials.

MAIAC Aerosol Algorithm Over Water
Abstract MAIAC VIIRS Collection 2 aerosol product for the first time provides global coverage over land and ocean. This paper gives a first systematic description of MAIAC ocean aerosol algorithm covering cases of open ocean, waters with sediments and brown waters from rivers' discharge.

Development of a compact excavator mounted dust suppression system [PDF]
This paper reports on the investigation of an excavator mounted dust suppression system for demolition and construction activities. Ever increasing pressure is placed on contractors to improve their environmental performance, especially dust emissions ...

Eolian grain size and flux were measured on samples from 11 Arabian Sea sediment traps deployed 200-1250 km offshore. The timing of increased grain size is coincident with the onset of strong summer monsoon winds and dust storm activity over the Arabian ...
