Data‐driven simulation of crude distillation using Aspen HYSYS and comparative machine learning models

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
Integrated Aspen HYSYS–machine learning framework for predicting product yields and quality variables. Abstract Crude oil refining is a complex process requiring precise modelling to optimize yield, quality, and efficiency. This study integrates Aspen HYSYS® simulations with machine learning techniques to develop predictive models for key refinery ...

Characteristics of viscosity-reducer foam flooding in deep low-permeability heavy oil reservoirs

open access: yesYouqi dizhi yu caishoulu
Viscosity-reducer foam flooding combines the advantages of emulsification of viscosity-reducers and selective blocking of foam to further enhance oil recovery in deep low-permeability heavy oil reservoirs during the later development stages. The suitable

Molten‐Salt‐Mediated Chemical Looping Oxidative Dehydrogenation of Ethane with In‐Situ Carbon Capture and Utilization

open access: yesChemSusChem, Volume 18, Issue 6, March 15, 2025.
A sustainable alternative to steam cracking, the molten‐salt‐mediated oxidative dehydrogenation (MM‐ODH) of ethane (C2H6) in Li2CO3‐Na2CO3‐K2CO3 (LNK) couples thermal cracking with melt‐mediated CO2 capture to realize commercially competitive C2H4 and CO yields. LNK composition strongly influences MM‐ODH process outcomes.

Potential Application of CO2 for Enhanced Condensate Recovery Combined with Geological Storage in the Depleted Gas-Condensate Reservoirs

open access: yesManagement Systems in Production Engineering, 2021
CO2 emissions are considered to be the main contributor to global warming and climate change. One of the ways reducing the emissions to atmosphere is a proper capture and further geological storage of the carbon dioxide.

Comparing carbon sequestration in an oil reservoir to sequestration in a brine formation-field study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Geologic sequestration of CO2 in an oil reservoir is generally considered a different class than sequestration in formations which contain only brine. In this paper, the significance and validity of this conceptualization is examined by comparing the ...

Nonequilibrium Laser Regulation of the Electronic Structure of the Ni‐Based Electrode for Boosting Nucleophilic Electrooxidation of Alcohols

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
This work reports an efficient, simple, low‐cost, and scalable method for overall electrode preparation. Nonequilibrium laser synthesis rapidly yields NiO nanocrystals on which a nickel oxyhydroxide (NiOOH) overlayer is grown in situ. By varying the number of laser pulses, the Ni3+/Ni2+ ratio is precisely tuned, thereby modulating the electronic ...
