The eosinophilic pneumonias are a heterogeneous group of diseases characterized by an increase in eosinophils in lung tissue or bronchoalveolar lavage fluid. Many, but not all, of the eosinophilic pneumonias are also associated with a peripheral blood eosinophilia.
