Utilization of Powdered EPDM Scrap in EPDM Compound

Rubber Chemistry and Technology, 2003
Abstract Processability, curing characteristics and vulcanizate properties of EPDM compounds containing ground waste EPDM (W-EPDM) have been studied. Ground waste was prepared from factory scraps, using a mechanical grinder with silicon carbide abrasive wheel rotating at 2950 rpm.

Synthesis and Application of AN-g-EPDM and AA-g-EPDM as Compatibilizers for CR/EPDM and NBR/EPDM Rubber Blends

Journal of Elastomers & Plastics, 2002
The graft polymerization of acrylonitrile (AN) or acrylic acid (AA) onto ethylene-propylene-diene terpolymer rubber (EPDM) was carried out in toluene, using dibenzoyl peroxide (BPO) as an initiator. The synthesized AN-g-EPDM and AA-g-EPDM were characterized by FT-IR spectroscopy and thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA).

Experimental Study on the Blending of EPDM/R-EPDM

Advanced Materials Research, 2011
The mechanical properties of EPDM/R-EPDM blending was investigated. Effect of the blending ratio, amount of DCP and silica and the curing temperature of EPDM/R-EPDM blend was discussed respectively. The results showed that each factor of the formulation has an optimum value or range.

Challenges for EPDM

International Polymer Science and Technology, 2004
EPDM polymers have been used in automotive weather seals for more than 30 years and there have been numerous investigations into their mixing and extrusion. However, the stability of EPDM polymers under the heat and shear forces that occur during the production of composites is generally ignored and inadequately understood.

ADVANCEMENTS IN EPDM SPONGE COMPOUND PROCESSING USING EPDM BIMODAL POLYMERS

Rubber Chemistry and Technology, 2011
Abstract Ethylene-propylene-diene (EPDM) elastomers are the primary polymer choice for automotive weatherseal applications due to their outstanding weathering and heat resistance properties. Automotive sealing systems are complex in design; in particular, door seals are one of the most complex components of the sealing system, generally ...

EPDM/CIIR Blends: Effect of EPDM Grade on Mechanical Properties

International Journal of Polymeric Materials, 2007
Blends of chlorobutyl rubber (CIIR) with two grades of ethylene-propylene diene monomer rubber (EPDM) were prepared and the effect of blend ratio on the cure characteristics, hot air ageing resistance, steam ageing resistance, and mechanical properties were evaluated.
