Radiation Belt Electron Acceleration Inside the Plasmasphere

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 52, Issue 4, 28 February 2025.
Abstract We report a new population of outer belt electron acceleration events ranging from hundreds of keV to ∼1.5 MeV that occurred inside the plasmasphere, which we named “Inside Events” (IEs). Based on 6 year observations from Van Allen Probes, we compare the statistical distributions of IEs with electron acceleration events outside the ...

Prediction of Communication Outage Period between Satellite and Earth station Due to Sun Interference [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Astronomy and Space Sciences, 2010
We developed a computer program to predict solar interference period. To calculate Sun‘s position, we used DE406 ephemerides and Earth ellipsoid model. The Sun‘s position error is smaller than 10arcsec. For the verification of the calculation, we used

On the Juno Radio Science Experiment: models, algorithms and sensitivity analysis

open access: yes, 2014
Juno is a NASA mission launched in 2011 with the goal of studying Jupiter. The probe will arrive to the planet in 2016 and will be placed for one year in a polar high-eccentric orbit to study the composition of the planet, the gravity and the magnetic ...

Report of the IAU Commission 4 Working Group on Standardizing Access to Ephemerides and File Format Specification [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2015
The IAU Commission 4 Working Group on Standardizing Access to Ephemerides recommends the use of the Spacecraft and Planet Kernel (SPK) format as a standard format for the position ephemerides of planets and other natural solar system bodies, and the use of the Planetary Constants Kernel (PCK) format for the orientation of these bodies.

Radiation‐Belt Dropouts: Relationship With Geomagnetic Storms and MeV Precipitation

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 52, Issue 4, 28 February 2025.
Abstract To better understand rapid radiation belt losses, this statistical study examines dropouts, defined as a phase‐space density (PSD) decrease by a factor of ≥5 ${\ge} 5$ within 8 hr. The relationship between dropouts, storm parameters, solar‐wind drivers, geomagnetic indices, and MeV electron precipitation is analyzed.

Prediction of transits of solar system objects in Kepler/K2 images: An extension of the Virtual Observatory service SkyBoT

open access: yes, 2016
All the fields of the extended space mission Kepler/K2 are located within the ecliptic. Many solar system objects thus cross the K2 stellar masks on a regular basis.

Uncertainties in Ground‐Based Visual Double Star Measures

open access: yesAstronomische Nachrichten, Volume 346, Issue 2, February 2025.
ABSTRACT Stellar masses are found from the orbital elements of binary systems which are, in turn, computed from weighted astrometric measures. Astrometric measures of double stars (their position angle and separation) rarely include uncertainties, and published binary star orbits rarely include the weighting systems used in the determination of the ...

A 16-parameter GEO Broadcast Ephemeris [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Geodesy and Geoinformation Science, 2018
Currently, the broadcast ephemerides used in GEOs are same as those of the MEOs and IGSOs in the BeiDou navigation constellation. However, a trade-off strategy, i.e.
