The organization of zooplankton epibiont communities

Trends in Ecology & Evolution, 1993
Recent findings suggest that a diverse set of interactions exists between crustacean zooplankton and the algae, protozoans and metazoans that live attached to them. The frequent molting of the crustacean exoskeleton keeps these epibiont populations in a state of constant renewal and makes this epibiont community an ideal experimental system for ...

A checklist of ciliate epibionts (Ciliophora) found on bryozoans

Zootaxa, 2020
A compilation of the ciliate (Ciliophora) species found on marine and fresh water bryozoans as epibionts has been carried out based on published records. The checklist includes the taxonomic position of each species of epibiontic ciliate, the species of basibiont bryozoans, localities and the bibliographic references. Altogether 40 ciliate species from

A checklist of species of Podophryidae (Ciliophora: Suctoria) as Epibionts of Crustaceans

Zootaxa, 2022
The epibiotic relationship between crustaceans and ciliates is frequent, for example, with species of suctorians. This work aims to present an updated list of species of the family Podophryidae worldwide distributed as epibionts of crustaceans and its geographic distribution. The available literature was checked, and all the species were verified.

Shells ofPatella asperaas ‘islands’ for epibionts

Journal of the Marine Biological Association of the United Kingdom, 2014
In this study we examined the epibiont assemblage on shells of the living limpetPatella aspera. Limpets were collected at two sites at each of the nine islands of the Azores, totalling 707 individuals examined. Shells were measured and all the epibiota identified to the lowest taxonomic resolution possible.

A hypocrealean epibiont on meristems of Baccharis coridifolia

Mycologia, 1997
In meristem cultures of Baccharis coridifolia, a white slow-growing sterile fungus frequently grows from tissues to cover the explants. Histological studies indicate that this fungus is epibiotic on meristems and grows in the axils of leaf primordia.
