Abstract Leaf wax of a glaucous variety of Poa ampla contains hydrocarbons (5%, C 23 –C 35 ), esters (9%, C 36 –C 56 ), free acids (3%, C 16 –C 34 ), free alcohols (6%, mainly C 26 ); hentriacontane-14,16-dione (14%), 5-oxohentriacontane-14,16-dione (1%); hydroxy β-diketones (56%) and unidentified material (6%).
