The Mechanical Efficiency of Epicyclic Gear Trains

Journal of Mechanical Design, 1993
The analysis of mechanical efficiency constitutes an important phase in the design analysis of gear drives. The objective of this investigation has been the development of a general algorithm for the determination of efficiency in split-power spur-gear trains.

Mechanics of Epicyclic Bevel-Gear Trains

Journal of Engineering for Industry, 1973
The kinematics, statics, and inertia-force analysis of epicyclic bevel-gear trains have been described. Beginning with the general case of nonparallel, nonintersecting axes, the results are specialized to planetary bevel-gear trains. Dual (3 × 3) matrices have been found useful in the analysis, which is an outgrowth of earlier work on spur-gear trains.

Flow graphs and epicyclic gear trains

IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, 1971
Coates flow graphs and Chan-Mai graphs have been applied to the analysis of epicyclic gear trains. They are found to be superior to signal flow graph analysis because their gain formulas are simpler and require a lesser number of expansions to yield the desired result.

Epicyclic gear trains for automotive automatic transmissions

Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part D: Journal of Automobile Engineering, 2000
Epicyclic gear trains, which contain at least four coaxial links, are widely used in automatic transmissions. This paper presents a systematic methodology for the synthesis of epicyclic gear trains for automotive automatic transmissions. The graph representation of epicyclic gear trains is applied to develop an approach for the structural synthesis of

Load Independent Losses of an Aeroengine Epicyclic Power Gear Train: Numerical Investigation

Volume 1, 2019
The development of Ultra-High Bypass Ratio (up to 20) engines with the aim of improving the propulsive efficiency, introduces new challenges for the transmission system in terms of heat management and power losses, since the amount of power transferred

Dynamics of Transmissions Using Epicyclic Gear Trains

SAE Technical Paper Series, 2001
<div class="htmlview paragraph">Due to the current changes in the automotive industry several new technologies are being developed and the old ones analyzed. The epicyclic gear trains, or planetary gear trains, are important in the automatic transmissions.

Epicyclic gear trains for difficult ratios

Journal of Scientific Instruments, 1941
This paper is complementary to one by Clay* in which he made use of the continued fraction, whereas in this paper the wide capacity of the epicyclic train is employed in each case for finding wheelwork to give ratios which appear almost unattainable. After giving an example of an epicyclic train, the author explains the principle of their action.

CENTRALISED LUBRICATION BY USING EPICYCLIC GEAR TRAIN

2022
In many industrial applications it is required to drive the actuators, hydraulic cylinders at variable speed this is only possible by variable discharge from a variable displacement pump so it is not feasible to use it. One method employed is to use a pump of higher discharge capacity, but higher capacity means higher cost and higher power consumption ...
