Kinematic Analysis of Bevel Epicyclic Gear Trains Using Graph Notation

Volume 5: 27th Biennial Mechanisms and Robotics Conference, 2002
A kinematic analysis technique is introduced to find the velocities of all links in bevel epicyclic gear trains. The method relies on previous work in graph theory. It improves on existing techniques used for analysis of planar geared mechanisms in its ability to accurately solve the kinematics of spatial geared mechanisms, particularly bevel gear ...

Applications of signal-flow graph theory to epicyclic gear trains

IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, 1968
The purpose of this correspondence is to illustrate the use of signal-flow graph theory in obtaining a topological representation of the linear relationship that exists between the inputs and outputs of an epicyclic gear train [1]. Additional applications of signal-flow graph theory are also suggested.

Synthesis of Epicyclic Gear Trains Using the Velocity Ratio Spectrum

Journal of Engineering for Industry, 1960
For a simple epicyclic train, the controlling element is almost invariably fixed, i.e., prevented from rotating by being connected, in some way, to the frame. Such trains are easy to synthesize because there are a limited number of variations of the three basic elements and, normally, six equations will define all possible velocity ratios.

Synthesis of Single-Ratio and Multi-Ratio Epicyclic Gear Trains

Journal of Mechanical Engineering Science, 1971
A class of epicyclic gears based on coaxially mounted plane trains is defined. The class is restricted to those gears in which planetary gears of adjacent trains are coupled. The type of epicyclic multi-ratio gearbox in which the input and output members are always the same is selected for consideration.
