A multivalent antiviral platform based on honeycomb‐shaped DNA nanostructures (HC–Urumin) is developed to enhance the potency and breadth of the host defense peptide Urumin. Through spatially patterned trimeric presentation, HC–Urumin disrupts influenza A virus entry, improves cell viability, and reduces disease severity in vivo‐offering a modular and ...

Optimal Vaccine Allocation to Control Epidemic Outbreaks in Arbitrary Networks
We consider the problem of controlling the propagation of an epidemic outbreak in an arbitrary contact network by distributing vaccination resources throughout the network.

Epidemic models and percolation
We argue that local epidemic models with immunisation are in the same universality class as percolation cluster growth models, and show that the static exponents are equal to all orders in the \(\epsilon\) expansion. We calculate the dynamic exponent \(v_ t=1+\epsilon /28+O(\epsilon^ 2)\) and relate this to other exponents involving the chemical ...

Nano‐ and Micro‐Sized Solid Materials Used as Antiviral Agents
Due to the rise of viral infections in humans and possible viral outbreaks, the use of nano‐ or micro‐sized materials as antiviral agents is rapidly increasing. This review explores their antiviral properties against RNA and DNA viruses, either as a prevention or a treatment tool, by delving into their mechanisms of action and how to properly assess ...

Availability evaluation method for extended epidemic model and Markov chain based IoT
To reflect the availability status of the Internet of things (IoT) under malware diffusion, an availability evaluation method of IoT based on the extended epidemic model SEIRD and Markov chain was proposed.According to actual states of IoT nodes, the ...

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) emerged in Wuhan, China in 2019, has spread throughout the world and has since then been declared a pandemic. As a result, COVID-19 has caused a major threat to global public health.

Epidemic Thresholds with External Agents
We study the effect of external infection sources on phase transitions in epidemic processes. In particular, we consider an epidemic spreading on a network via the SIS/SIR dynamics, which in addition is aided by external agents - sources unconstrained by

Nanotherapies for Atherosclerosis: Targeting, Catalysis, and Energy Transduction
Atherosclerosis management is hindered by poor drug targeting and plaque heterogeneity. Nanotechnology overcomes these barriers via three core strategies: (1) target‐engineered nanocarriers that achieve lesion‐specific precision via ligand modification, biomimetic camouflage, stimuli‐responsive release, and self‐propelling nanomotors; (2) catalytic ...

Asymmetry of the Ferroelectric Phase Transition in BaTiO3
Phase transitions are typically assumed to behave identically in forward and reverse. This work shows that in the ferroelectric material barium titanate this is not true: heating drives an abrupt, first‐order jump, while cooling gives a smooth, continuous change.

Limiting the spread of disease through altered migration patterns [PDF]
We consider a model for an epidemic in a population that occupies geographically distinct locations. The disease is spread within subpopulations by contacts between infective and susceptible individuals, and is spread between subpopulations by the ...
