Influence of Ecological Factors on Formation of Viruses' Genetic Determinants and the Severity of Children's Clinical Course of Infections

open access: yesДетские инфекции (Москва), 2016
The analysis of the epidemic process of manifestation and clinical features of measles in the last 200 years has been made and made clear the features of the formation of the genetic determinants of rubella virus at low and high temperatures of ...

Monitoring epidemic processes under political measures

open access: yesStatistics in Medicine
Statistical modeling of epidemiological curves to capture the course of epidemic processes and to implement a signaling system for detecting significant changes in the process is a challenging task, especially when the process is affected by political measures.

From Lab to Landscape: Environmental Biohybrid Robotics for Ecological Futures

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This Perspective explores environmental biohybrid robotics, integrating living tissues, microorganisms, and insects for operation in real‐world ecosystems. It traces the leap from laboratory experiments to forests, wetlands, and urban environments and discusses key challenges, development pathways, and opportunities for ecological monitoring and ...

Stabilization of an epidemic model via an N-periodic approach

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science, 2018
We analyze the evolution of an infectious disease by combining different groups of a population when the route of transmission is via encounters with free-living virulent organisms that can survive for a long time outside the individual.

Non‐Targeting shRNA‐Encoded Plasmid DNA Enhances Protective Immunity Through RIDD‐RIG‐I Signaling Pathway in the Zika Virus Animal Model

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We present a novel DNA vaccine platform featuring intrinsic, non‐targeting dsRNA that significantly enhances immune responses by activating the regulated IRE1‐dependent decay‐RIG‐I signaling pathway. This research elucidates a previously uncharacterized mechanism for dsRNA‐mediated innate immune activation.

Nonperturbative renormalization group for the diffusive epidemic process [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 2017
We consider the Diffusive Epidemic Process (DEP), a two-species reaction-diffusion process originally proposed to model disease spread within a population. This model exhibits a phase transition from an active epidemic to an absorbing state without sick individuals. Field-theoretic analyses suggest that this transition belongs to the universality class

Periodontitis Induces B Cell‐Macrophage Crosstalk to Exacerbate Glucose Dysregulation in Obesity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In obesity, periodontitis exacerbates hyperglycemia and exhibits a liver‐centric preference for glucose regulation. This occurs through a periodontitis‐driven circuit between pathogenic B cells and hepatic macrophages. Their reciprocal expansion, orchestrated by the NLRP3/IL‐18 signaling pathway, amplifies metabolic inflammation and disrupts glucose ...

Selenoprotein H Functions as a PPARα Coactivator to Link Selenium Homeostasis to Hepatic Lipid Metabolism and Protect against Steatohepatitis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Our study identifies selenium deficiency as a hallmark of MASH pathogenesis. Dietary selenium supplementation enhances hepatic fatty acid oxidation (FAO) and attenuates MASH progression by activating the PPARα pathway via selenoprotein H (SELENOH). This selenium‐SELENOH‐PPARα nexus redefines the functional scope of selenoproteins, moving from redox ...

Identification of Mannose‐Capped‐Arabinomannan 101‐mer as a Potential Influenza Virus Vaccine Adjuvant

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Well‐defined and synthetic mannose‐capped arabinomannan 101‐mer from Mycobacterium tuberculosis cell wall was identified as a potent influenza vaccine adjuvant, boosting the antibody response, realizing full protection and showing excellent safety. ABSTRACT Many natural bacterial components as adjuvants can activate the host immune system, but the ...
