The basic epidemiological study designs are cross-sectional, case-control, and cohort studies. Cross-sectional studies provide a snapshot of a population by determining both exposures and outcomes at one time point. Cohort studies identify the study groups based on the exposure and, then, the researchers follow up study participants to measure outcomes.

SUMMARYSera received from subjects suspected of toxoplasmosis were examined for hæmagglutinating antibodies and compared with sera from an apparently normal population.In cases of chorio‐retinitis, a significantly higher than normal proportion of positive results was demonstrated in all age groups.

The epidemiologic characteristics of 298 cases of eclampsia treated from 1967 to 1974 in the Siriraj Hospital, Bangkok, Thailand, are described. The incidence of eclampsia was 0.2% of all deliveries, and the nulliparas had a higher incidence than the multiparas in all age groups.
