Epidemiological investigation of trichinellosis in Switzerland
Veterinary Parasitology, 1997Domestic pigs in Switzerland have been considered Trichinella-free for decades, despite the occurrence of Trichinella in the wildlife cycle. In order to reevaluate the present epidemiological situation, tissue samples from 11226 domestic pigs, 356 wild boars and 452 foxes were examined using the standard artificial digestion method.

The Epidemiological Investigation of AIDS
The Hastings Center Report, 1985KIE: Mayer discusses practical and ethical dilemmas in the design and use of epidemiological studies of acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). Such studies may prove very helpful in curtailing the AIDS epidemic, but they pose a threat of discrimination to members of high-risk groups and the general community.

Epidemiological approaches to safety investigations
Veterinary Microbiology, 2006This paper considers the different approaches to post-authorisation safety monitoring of veterinary medicinal products that is essential to ensure confidence in their safety. Most safety testing is undertaken prior to granting of a marketing authorisation and is generally on a small scale.

SUNLIGHT AND CATARACT: AN EPIDEMIOLOGIC INVESTIGATION
American Journal of Epidemiology, 1977Cataract prevalence data from two large U.S. sources were divided according to small geographic areas for which average annual sunlight hours were determined from a map prepared by the U.S. Weather Bureau. Several non-cataract disease controls were chosen from the same geographic locations (separately for each data set).

An Epidemiologic Investigation of Asthma in Welders
American journal of respiratory and critical care medicine, 1996Abstract To clarify whether asthma may be caused by fume from welding mild steel and to evaluate the possible strength of such an effect, we quantified airway responsiveness among young shipyard workers with different levels of fume exposure.

Psychophysiological and Epidemiological Investigations on the Dentist
Reviews on Environmental Health, 1996This paper selectively shows the results of a psychophysiological study in general dental work. The change in heart rate was a very meaningful indicator. The average stress during dental work can be classified from light to moderately severe. The form of the course of the 0.10 Hz frequency band, diverted from the spectral analysis of heart periods, was

New Prospects for Epidemiologic Investigations
Science, 1986Epidemiology has evolved from its historic origins as the study of major epidemics and vital statistics to a contemporary focus on the study of the distribution and determinants of health and disease in humans. This evolution reflects changes in the patterns of diseases and deaths that have occurred in our time and has placed new emphasis on preventing
