Epidermal nevus

open access: yesDermatology Online Journal, 2010
A healthy 25-year-old man presented with a widespread, non-organoid, non-epidermolytic epidermal nevus. In addition to extensive hyperpigented patches and thin plaques following Blaschko lines, there were superimposed psoriasiform plaques on the elbows and warty plaques on the upper trunk. Striate palmar keraoderma also was evident.

The usefulness of c-Kit in the immunohistochemical assessment of melanocytic lesions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
C-Kit (CD117), the receptor for the stem cell factor, a growth factor for melanocyte migra- tion and proliferation, has shown differential immunostaining in various benign and malig- nant melanocytic lesions. The purpose of this study is to compare c-Kit

Epidermal nevus

open access: yesDermatology Online Journal, 2003
A 20-year-old woman presented with an asymptomatic, life-long, verrucous, hyperpigmented plaque on the face and neck that corresponded to the lines of Blaschko. Histopathologic examination shows an epidermal nevus. This nevus presents a challenge in management because of the location and extent of the lesion.

In vitro evidence for senescent multinucleated melanocytes as a source for tumor-initiating cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Oncogenic signaling in melanocytes results in oncogene-induced senescence (OIS), a stable cell-cycle arrest frequently characterized by a bi- or multinuclear phenotype that is considered as a barrier to cancer progression.
