Epidural analgesia during labour and severe maternal morbidity: population based study

open access: yesBritish medical journal
Objectives To determine the effect of labour epidural on severe maternal morbidity (SMM) and to explore whether this effect might be greater in women with a medical indication for epidural analgesia during labour, or with preterm labour.

The clinical impact of the perioperative epidural anesthesia on surgical outcomes after pancreaticoduodenectomy: A retrospective cohort study

open access: yesSurgery Open Science, 2022
Background: Pancreaticoduodenectomy is a highly invasive procedure associated with high morbidity. Several preoperative variables are associated with postoperative complications. The role of perioperative factors is uncertain.

Comparison of Programmed Intermittent Epidural Boluses With Continuous Epidural Infusion for the Maintenance of Labor Analgesia: A Randomized, Controlled, Double-Blind Study

open access: yesAnesthesia and Analgesia, 2019
BACKGROUND: Programmed intermittent epidural boluses may improve the spread of local anesthetics compared to continuous epidural infusion, improving labor analgesia and obstetric outcomes.

Prenatal labor analgesia education program on outcomes for primiparas: study protocol for a randomized controlled trial

open access: yesBMC Public Health
Background A significant number of primiparous women lack awareness of labor epidural analgesia, resulting in lower acceptance of labor epidural analgesia. Additional prenatal education may help primiparas understand labor epidural analgesia and increase

Battery‐Free Dual‐Channel Wireless Neurostimulator Using Passive Circuitry for Neuropathic Pain Modulation

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A compact, wireless neural stimulator featuring a novel tapping inductor enables selective and independent stimulation of the motor cortex in rats via a single receiver coil. This minimally invasive system effectively reduces neuropathic pain through targeted cortical activation, offering a new avenue for bioelectronic pain therapies and advancing ...

Knowledge, attitudes, and practices of pregnant women regarding epidural analgesia: a multicentre study from a developing country

open access: yesJournal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology
Background Epidural analgesia has emerged as one of the best methods that can be used to reduce labour pain. This study was conducted to assess awareness, attitudes, and practices of pregnant women who visited maternity and antenatal healthcare clinics ...

Epidural Analgesia for Severe Chest Trauma: An Analysis of Current Practice on the Efficacy and Safety

open access: yesCritical Care Research and Practice, 2019
Background. Adequate pain control is essential in the treatment of patients with traumatic rib fractures. Although epidural analgesia is recommended in international guidelines, the use remains debatable and is not undisputed.

Thermal Processing Creates Water‐Stable PEDOT:PSS Films for Bioelectronics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 37, Issue 13, April 2, 2025.
Instead of using chemical cross–linkers, it is shown that PEDOT:PSS thin films for bioelectronics become water‐stable after a simple heat treatment. The heat treatment is compatible with a range of rigid and elastomeric substrates and films are stable in vivo for >20 days.

Changes in cardiac index during labour analgesia: A double-blind randomised controlled trial of epidural versus combined spinal epidural analgesia - A preliminary study

open access: yesIndian Journal of Anaesthesia, 2017
Background and Aims: Combined spinal-epidural (CSE) analgesia for labour and delivery is occasionally associated with foetal bradycardia. Decreases in cardiac index (CI) and/or uterine hypertonia are implicated as possible aetiological factors.
