Adhesions in the epidural space caused by frequent epidural blocks [PDF]

open access: yesJA Clinical Reports, 2017
We report a case of adhesions in the epidural space caused by more than 200 times epidural blocks that were observed with epiduroscopy. A 41-year-old man had repeatedly undergone lumbar epidural blocks to treat pain in his leg, resulting in decreased efficacy of the epidural block.

Post-Pancreatoduodenectomy Outcomes and Epidural Analgesia: A 5-Year Single Institution Experience [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Introduction Optimal pain control post-pancreatoduodenectomy is a challenge. Epidural analgesia (EDA) is increasingly utilized despite inherent risks and unclear effects on outcomes.

Combined spinal epidural block versus spinal and epidural block for orthopaedic surgery [PDF]

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Anaesthesia, 1993
In a controlled study a single segment combined spinal epidural (CSE) block was compared with spinal or epidural block for major orthopaedic surgery. Seventy-five patients, age 52-86 yr, were randomly assigned to receive one of the three blocks. Bupivacaine 0.5% was used for surgical analgesia.

Effects of general anesthesia with or without epidural block on tumor metastasis and mechanisms.

open access: yesOncology Letters, 2018
The present study aimed to assess whether different anesthesia methods (general anesthesia and general anesthesia combined with epidural block) were associated with tumor metastasis during the perioperative period and the possible molecular mechanisms of
